In case you truly don't it... Free to pick up. $5 off still applies = less than ordering directly from store even if the price is increased a few dollars on DD.

So $20 menu item - $5 = $15

Extra bonus for using DD gift cards that can be found for 20% off.

So $15 in GC = $12 in real money.

Now that $20 in store menu item cost you $12+ tax.

I like many people here only order from DD when it saves us money, usually this comes to around 25%-50% less than in store menu prices.

And yes, many people live in areas where there are restaurants within a 5-10 min walk

YMMV indeed. Last time I got DD and paid for the 20% menu markup on delivery, they gave me the order way late and it was cold. I got the "tip" back due to the driver but that was it. I always just order direct and pick it up myself, or if I'm really lazy will do UberEATS.

Always check the actual restaurant prices compared to what it's listed on Doordash. For some, the prices are jacked up so much in addition to paying all the fees that it's not worth it. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

The merchants set their own prices to offset the percentage DD takes.

Getting food delivered and paying for all sorts of added costs, fees, taxes, surcharges, delivery fees and tips makes it the opposite of a slick deal.

I have two functioning legs and I don't mind spending 5-10 minutes to go and pick up some food. I'm not that lazy.​
Guess it depends on how much you value your time and money. Most people have to drive to get something to eat. 10-15 minute drive each way another 10-15 getting the food and paying. That's about an hour lost at $15 an hour it's $9 plus your gas and wear and tear. Walking probably uses as much time. Huge opportunity cost.

That is interesting. My wife used DD for a long time before I switched her to Uber Eats so she knew what her stuff cost. Everything she ordered was like 15-20% less basically. Was absurd.

Will have to remember that when we travel though.
