How much better is the pb2000 vs the Klipsch r-12sw?

Running a Yamaha rx575 and Klipsch RP 5.1 system in a open concept area with tall ceilings. Love the Klipsch towers, and just like the 12sw sub. Not sure if it's worth upgrading the sub, receiver, or just fine tuning my current setup.

A lot better.

That said- depending how open your concept is you might still be disappointed.

The story I always tell is back in the day I had a house with a big open floorplan on the first floor, open to the entire first floor, and the stairs, and a loft on 2nd floor.... then 2nd floor also had a couple of closed-off bedrooms and bathrooms.

There was a stereo system in the living room downstairs, and one of the upstairs rooms used as an office/media area.

At the time I had a Dayton Audio 12" sub....which was very well known as an excellent super-cheap sub... ($99 and most folks said you'd need to spend 5x to get something noticeably better.

But they also said it's actually worth spending a lot more for a proper home theater experience.

I was very dubious.

But...SVS had the free 45 day in home trial with free return shipping so I figured why not find out? I ordered a PB2000.

First A/B testing was downstairs in the open living room. And the SVS was noticably better. But not like jaw dropping better. CERTAINLY not many-times-the-price better. Just somewhat cleaner and maybe a touch deeper. I was underwhelmed.

But then it was trying to fill a space that if you included the stairs and 2nd floor loft was like 10,000 cubic feet.

Next I took it upstairs, to the office/media room that was only about 1600 cubic feet and did the A/B test.

That WAS jaw dropping. Incredibly so.

The best example was one of the test scenes I used was the plane crash from 2004s Flight of the Phoenix.

With the Dayton sub it sounded like a really good recording of a plane crash.

With the SVS, it felt like you were in a plane crash.

Night and day experience....and I kept (and still have to this day, though it's my secondary sub in a smaller room now) the PB2000.

But I didn't get one for downstairs....wouldn't get a much better sub that actually COULD fill a massive space for a couple more years after that (and it wasn't SVS, you can do better for less $ in that class...but you're going to be paying several grand at least, depending how huge a space you're talking)

Thinking of picking up 2 PB2000 pros that are blemished for my dedicated basement theater. I built a theater for a friend and he has 1 and it sounds amazing. Any thoughts on those vs the non-pros listed here? I currently have 2 Andrew Jones' pioneer 8" subs.
I had the same sub for 4 years. What I found is that since the AJ sub is not very powerful you need to be very accurate with your placement to get good sound out of it. My first upgrade was the Klipsch 12 inch from Costco after which I went with the svs pb1000 . I still think the Klipsch was better for music while the svs just blows the klipsch out of the water for movies. I am currently running one pb1000 and I think it is quite powerful for a 20Γ—15 space.

Would it be any benefit to get pro models instead? If you're planning on you DIRAC anyways?
Depends on whether it includes bass management.
Even then room correction does not fix placement, room & environment issues.

Unless you plan on making adjustments often the pro version isn't that much of a benefit.

Really need the Bluetooth volume control due to a physical l have. That is only on the pro models and they are never discounted 200, only 100.

I've been waiting for the Monolith 16" to go back on sale for $1700 and planned on grabbing 2 of those, but I've been waiting since September and they haven't gone back on sale. Looks like I'll go with 2 PB2000 Pros. Thanks!

Bought a used PB1000 and would get a 2K in a second if I had the money, I will be upgrading within the next couple of years. This 10" sounds incredibly better than the BIC F12 it replaced.

It's been this $599 price now for months! they made too many of them or they did not sell as many as they thought because previously when they made more of these pb's they were $499 and they sold like hot cakes. Honestly, the $599 price are not returns, they are just trying to get rid of them and by saying they are "outlets" units, they can price it $599. You can still go on there site and buy it for $699 but that is just to save face with there dealers who are mostly selling it for $699 even thou I have seen a few of them drop it down to $599 on amazon from time to time for brand new unit. That said, the Pb-2000 is a very good sub, two of them really work well in a moderate sized room! SVS Customer service is Outstanding!! This sub , however, would be even better at $499 like a few years ago!!
My PB-12 NSD for $439 (same size as PB-2000, 100 watts less) Is the GOAT

This is the same outlet pricing they run every couple of months at this point.... Usually outlet stuff are returned or scuffed or something but they're full warranty so shouldn't be a concern.... the PB2k at $599 is a terrific deal for a moderately sized space
Chase Rewards occasionally does a 30% CB at SVS which made me jump on 2 x PB-2000 for about $950 total after CB.

Edit: I meant Capital One shopping rewards.

That is why i have 3 ported SVS subs in my open living room. Its completely open to kitchen, dining, and 3 hallways.

But 1 sealed SVS in my bedroom is more than enough

I have the same problem. I can't imagine my wife letting me have 3 PB-2000s. One was already tough for her to swallow (until she heard it LOL)

I am looking for a deal on the 3000 micro for over year and maybe it will never happen. Need one for the office, which turns out is where I can mostly listen to music at levels I enjoy.
