But hey, if you value portability like the above poster did -- guess what, so do thieves. You reap what you sow.
Here I was thinking this was a thread about Shovel Knight, not victim blaming.

Unwritten Rule #1 of travel -- don't bring anything with you that you can't afford to have stolen.

I mean, it sucks to be stolen from. Been through it. But if you don't follow that unwritten rule that -everyone- tells you...and you get burned by it....whose fault is it? If you don't like fire, don't join the fire brigade? If you don't like water, go out on a boat?

At some point, personal accountability comes into play, even when others are at fault by doing something wrong and hurtful. They do those things -because- folks aren't protecting themselves. Purely opportunistic.
Christ. Do you enjoy listening to yourself jabber about nonsense?

Cars get stolen all the time.. so should we all keep our cars parked in our locked garages? The switch is a portable game system, so is 3ds, so is a Vita, so is a Steam Deck. Should we just confine ourselves in our home when we play these portable systems?

I understand where you are coming from. I told my son (9 at the time) multilple times, and I mean lots and lots of times, to not bring his 3DS with him into Disney World. He disobeyed and when we were sitting at a show, he set it down next to himself and somebody swiped it. He had the Black Friday Mario new Nintendo 3DS console that is highly sought after with a PHYSICAL copy of Monster Hunter Stories (also highly sought after) stolen. He was in tears the whole week and I gave him the look of "I'm sorry but I TOLD YOU SO!"

Got him a new 2DS XL and he's content with it but by no means is it the same thing. Lesson learned of not risking losing anything you might lose.

Imagine whining about losing access to re-download digital media as if you can't just get an emulator and then turning it into a whole dumb ass tirade about "personal responsibility".

Congratulations on derailing a deal thread with the most obnoxious inane blather I've read in at least a month.

So take it on vacation and have it stolen? I mean, I don't know what you want me to say. Bad things happen, but there's things you can take to mitigate risk. If you not only ignore those things but intentionally do the opposite to all but encourage theft....then pffst, I don't know what to say.

If you don't want to get wet, don't go out in the rain....or at least use an umbrella...
Wow dude. That's a lot of assumptions on your end. You hadn't the slightest idea under what circumstance he lost his switch and yet hopped on your high horse and laid on your spiel about personal responsibility and crap.

Congratulations, you've won the Dickus Ignoramus award for today!

I have systems, tools, and objects from 20-30 years ago. I don't know what you're doing with your stuff where you're casually misplacing a $300 video game system with fistfuls of $30-$60 games.

Or I just take care of my stuff, unlike those with slippery fingers here. Don't tell me that's unusual, plenty of people have vintage gaming systems. Probably because it was too hard to take their NES on vacation with them.

All 3ds eshop links seem to be erroring out, but games seem to be available to buy through the device itself.

EDIT: All switch games seem to be erroring out too.
