We should turn our ire toward the companies that set up systems that incentivize digital purchases without any sort of guarantee that you can still play what you bought if your hardware gets stolen, your account gets compromised, your system clock battery runs out, the publisher's servers go down, etc.
Cars get stolen all the time.. so should we all keep our cars parked in our locked garages? The switch is a portable game system, so is 3ds, so is a Vita, so is a Steam Deck. Should we just confine ourselves in our home when we play these portable systems?

EDIT: All switch games seem to be erroring out too.

At any moment, they can pull the store and you have nothing to show for your money.
Always so much misinformation from scared physical hoarders.
And in 10 years when you lost this Switch and you go to download all those games... but you can't because Nintendo closed down the Switch store...?
As I said, if you want something absolute after 10 years... Yes buy it in physical. Anyways, just wanted to point that going digital has upsides like in my case. Didn't think it would be this mess of a post lol.
But hey, if you value portability like the above poster did -- guess what, so do thieves. You reap what you sow.
Maybe someone here can help me out or point me in the right direction. I'm trying to prepare for when Nintendo store on Wii U and 2ds goes down.
Can I still buy a 3ds after nintendo store goes down and have access to download my games?
Can I change my email on my Nintendo account and that won't mess my purchases on my Wii U and 2Ds?
Do I have to have every game installed on my Wii U before the Nintendo store goes closes?

- You can certainly buy a 3ds whenever and then transfer your NNID using system transfer or calling nintendo. You lose saves if you call Nintendo. (not sure if this option will be available after closure, but I don't see why not.)
- I don't know.
- No
Physical copy is original game without DLC. Is the DLC Expansion stuff worth a re-purchase at this price?
This, I lost my switch with 15 games in an airport. Hated having to rebuy all the games. Different situationa for different people.
