max cpu temps are generally 100 C in these laptops... then they slow down so they don't melt themselves. Have an i7 1195 from last yr that runs 35-60C on average.

The gram when idle was 60C and doing a basic internet speed test with nothing else open raised all cpu core temps over 90C. Anything more demanding would raise the temps to the point of slow down... detrimental to performance and can't be good long term.

This in addition to unusually hot feel on the top right quadrant of the base were unacceptable. High horsepower cpus like the 1260p need proportional cooling adjustments which LG clearly hasn't nailed in this lightweight machine.

Love Costco and their return policy... never any issues.

If you wait until next year , the gen 14 Intel and AMD 8000 cpu's will be out which make the cpu's coming out next month "hot garbage" too.
I use this for work, battery life is superb (8+ hours) and very light weight. Performance is fast and no overheat.

Got it before Christmas. No heat issues for me. The newer model looks nicer though.

If you check it out in store, make sure it has the fingerprint reader, if that is something you will be using.

Note that fingerprint readers are not that great for older users (60+), more failed reads.

The fingerprint reader is an option that is left out in the many configurations of these laptops, and last I checked, was not in last year's model configuration at Costco.

I only wish they offered a 15" or 16" model for a similar price because I want a number keypad, and these Evo/thin laptops are skimping on the accessory ports, forcing everyone to puchase a separate multi-port (insert obligatory Fifth Element reference here) adapter for another $100 or so.

Why would the fingerprint reader not work for those older than 60 when phone readers work?

My first thought is that LG messed up applying thermal paste...or the heatsink fan is not running on his laptop.
The reviewer needed to either RMA it or return it to Costco and try again.
The LG Gram is pretty highly rated...and it did not get that way by running like this guy is describing.
This seems like a pretty nice laptop for this price..and if I did not already have an equal-spec Samsung, I would be all over it.

Not all fingerprint readers are the same, and as people age, their fingerprint ridges get more shallow and the skin gets less flexible. So *some* older people have to resort to moistening their fingertips to get the ridges to "plump" up or the readers won't get a good read.

That's why it is important to register multiple fingers in case one or the other don't work. Make sure you name the fingerprint profiles to include which finger you scanned, and whose finger it is if you give anyone else the ability to unlock your phone (just like you do - screen, bank apps, etc). For example, you have a stroke or car accident or are knocked unconscious, and your partner, a family member, or next of kin survivors, need to unlock your phone for whatever reason due to you being incapacitated (or dead).

Can anyone who owns this laptop confirm it can have multiple Chrome windows (6+) with tabs (60+) and not overheat?

16 gigs of ram might not be enough for all that
Well, my current laptop (HP Elitebook 840 g7) has 16gb RAM and I currently have 7 Chrome windows (with 90+ tabs open), Adobe Acrobat (with 6 pdfs open), Outlook, couple of Explorer windows and some more. This is my usual load on all of my machines in the past (most HP elitebooks), i never had more than 16gb of Ram and never had an issue/slow down.
I'm very interested in Gram due to it's weight, but I need similar performance...

Good laptop but I need 32G + 1TB......
I know the 17 inch has an extra m2 slot and the filled m2 is replaceable. Ram is soldered for all new models.
