Is this really a deal? I bought a nearly identical kit for less several years ago at Costco, but acknowledged inflation is a thing. Looking at the Camel, it seems this is a whopping dollar less than other days in the last month. What an I missing?

Not the same set. B&H is 8xAA and 2xAAA.

Seems like a lukewarm deal. I also have no need for AAAs nor C batteries. I'll have to keep an eye out for AA Pros for Xbox controllers. Or I might just get the IKEA Laddas; I've been on the fence about getting those instead sinec I currently have Pros and they last quite a long time. I'm not sure I could "downgrade" to the regular, smaller capacity batteries.

Case not necessary, charger slow but decent, C and D adapters getting long in the tooth.
Better off waiting for battery alone deal.

Slow is better for battery longevity. Rather have this one over the fast eneloop charger that was on sale a few days back.

No, they have not been for a little while. There was a good amount of stock after the changeover, so you could still get them. However, by now they may all be china made.
