A lot of these came out for Nintendo's handheld machines, Gameboy Advance etc. so most passed by people's radars when they first came out. This series is known to be more difficult than the regular Mega Man games, so that's something worth noting if you like the increased challenge.

In addition to the original games, Casual Scenario Mode and a Save-Assist feature are available for those who would like to enjoy the story at their own pace. Players can also try their hand at the new leaderboard-based Z Chaser Mode, an exclusive new mode created just for this set of games.

The Megaman X games are all about dashing and jumping. And to actually beat any of the harder levels, you need to dash while simultaneously charging your blaster and jumping, which is NOT POSSIBLE with the default control scheme on the Nintendo Switch version . Y (left button) charges the blaster, A (right button) dashes, and B (bottom button) jumps.
On the SNES, it was a necessity to reassign the dash button to a trigger. But the Switch Megaman X collection does not allow you to reassign dash (or any button) to either trigger. You can assign dash to a bumper button, (which you must do every single time you play the game...), but that requires your hand to be in a super uncomfortable claw position. So despite the Megaman X series being my favorite retro nostalgia series, I physically could not play it.
If anyone can confirm that controls can be assigned to the trigger buttons in this version, I'd love to know!
These are not X, these are Zero, which came out on the GBA, and allow R to dash. This game allows the same.
Have you played it?
In X, you could use R to dash on the SNES. However, the Switch versions assign R to the right bumper by default, and they do not recognize that a trigger even exists on the controller.
Huh, odd that they'd do that for the X collection. Yes, I got this one for $20 used, and the shoulder buttons work. The L and R, at least, I don't think the ZL and ZR or whatever those deeper ones are called.
