Made in Indonesia, they don't mention this anywhere in Adorama listing, had to find the same guitar at other retailers to get this info.
This is one of the best bang for the buck Fenders IHMO, two Seymour Duncan (59 and Pearly Gates) pickups with a coil tap, flamed maple CARVED top, graphite nut, matching headstock.

People have mentioned a wide neck, but have grown to love it.

All this for under $1k and in this case $700

For the price, I'd rather get a Schecter or a PRS if I wanted coil splitting on an HH setup.

As an owner of an Omen extreme 6, I'd go for a PRS if I had the extra $.

edit: changed opinion after reading thread. While not a tele or HH I would buy, I respect the reasons people have for liking this model.

Well…it could. I have a Dean with a tele body but…it's an HH with a Floyd rose lol. And the headstock clearly isn't a licensed tele. I don't think I'd go more than 550 for one of these, but they supposedly play nice.

I posted this same guitar when on sale at PAS, bought one myself, and a few other folks purchased/posted about it in this last thread. I bought the amber one, but in short, I love it, it is ready to go right out of the box, no upgrades needed! Only needed minor tweaks to lower the action, the pickups are excellent, the finish on mine is perfect, the workmanship (frets, neck/fingerboard, great binding, etc.), the tuners work fine, although I do have a set of black chrome fender strap locks to upgrade those. The stock ones are fine, but I prefer strap locks.

Aside from the pickups... my favorite touch on this guitar are the abalone inlays... I am a total sucker for abalone Big Grin. Highly recommend this guitar, it is versatile, light, pretty, and easy to play. It is a bit more expensive than what a beginner should probably invest on something they may end up not liking, but at this price they could probably flip on facebook or craigslist and break even depending on the market where they live.

EDIT: PAS has the black cherry burst on sale for $599, I posted here: https://slickdeals.net/f/16506268-fender-special-edition-custom-telecaster-w-laurel-fingerboard-used-600-free-shipping-599

I forgot to mention, I got this Fender FE620 case for my FMT HH, and it fits perfectly, it is way stiffer/harder/more protective than the typical gig bag for only like $10-$20 more(at the Adorama price) than the cheapest generic gig bags that you will find on places like Amazon (which are usually pretty crappy, I have a few that I am phasing out as I find deals on these Fender gig bags). It would have been nice for Fender to include one of these with the FMT HH, especially at the $1000 MSRP, but oh well, and Adorama has them for $12 off of MSRP: https://www.adorama.com/fe991512406.html

Did they send this out in an email? If I search the same guitar it's listed at $999:

I'm curious if any of the other closeout guitars have similar unlisted discounts.

Agreed, the only connection to Tele is the shape.

Damn it… I just bought a G&L ASAT Deluxe which is just past the return window. I wouldn't have minded dropping an extra 300 to get a Fender made HH telecaster

Hhmmm. Based on comments in this thread, I think I'm off base on my prior comment. This tele, while not what I look for in a tele, has its own appeal.

I like the omen fwiw, especially since it was around 200$ new when I got it. It feels powerful with distortion, but the coil tap and clean tones are kinda meh. I really like the neck though 🤷

I've noodled on a few PRS models at stores and been pretty impressed with build and sound. If I had the knowledge back then, I would've just saved up for an SE standard 24 vs buying every decent guitar around 200$. 1 higher quality guitar vs 3-4 deals on cheaper ones.

I think the only cheaper guitar I've found myself treasuring and playing regularly was a squier CV50. Every other one I mostly play out of guilt 😅
