No Touch ID = no thanks

Without Touch ID, it's just an ok bluetooth keyboard with no backlight for premium backlit keyboard money. Lots of better options at this price.

Worth noting, looks like this model does not have the built in fingerprint reader (Touch ID). These Apple keyboards are also not backlit.

If you click the link the title says: Apple Magic Keyboard: Wireless, Bluetooth, Rechargeable. Works with Mac, iPad, or iPhone; US English - White

So yes, it'll work with an iPhone.

There are a lot of older Apple Magic keyboards for sale on ebay. Will they work with a new Mac Mini?
Any apple keyboard will work with a mac mini. Any.

Didn't like the last version, too flat. Can't speak for this one, but get an idea whether it's going to be the typing experience you want (to any prospective buyers).
Agree. I like the original magic keyboard that takes AA's.

You'd be dumb to get this keyboard to use on Windows. Plenty of other, and likely better, options out there.

I wonder if these are from when Target had them for sale for $50. I have a friend who was buying as many as he could, he eBay'd them already for tidy profit.

Still using a Logitech keyboard for my work computer with an M1 iMac for 1 specific reason.......

The Apple keyboard does NOT tilt up from the back. Meaning it lays very flat and thus uncomfortable to use.
Tried the smaller keyboard and the larger with numeric keypad...both do NOT have clips in the rear to raise the back for a comfortable typing angle.

Still have this same keyboard from the M1 iMac purchase sitting in my drawer....only used for 3 minutes lol

What is the life of the rechargeable battery in these keyboards? Is the rechargeable battery replaceable?
My logitech dinovo edge has made it over 13 years with a 200 lithium battery.

I have one of these given to me from work and a Keychron K3. I honestly like the Keychron so much more and it's a about the same price but you can probably get it for less than the Apple. Just my opinion but I prefer the mechanical keys.

For those with their laptop open, i'd say they can skip the touch id. For those who leave it closed or use a mac mini/imac/mac studio, definitely consider the touch id version.

I haven't looked but i'm holding out for a full sized keyboard with touch id. I still have the 2nd gen magic keyboard with the num pad and prefer this size over these smaller ones.
Apple Watch unlocks your Mac also. That's what I use and, if by any chance I am not wearing the watch I just type my password. No big deal.

Right, and I use that too. But there are times when you're needing to enter passwords and such and it asks for touch ID...having it available is very handy.

They're not perfect (could use a little more key travel) and hot swap between devices but they are reliable with long battery, slim and travel well.

I dont like the placement of the fn key in the lower left (Id rather it be a control key instead). Im tempted to get the touch id however.

The Touch ID version requires a newer Mac (no Intel hardware): System Requirements: Mac with Apple silicon using macOS 11.4 or later

In fact, tilt-up keyboards may cause carpel tunnel. Most ergonomic keyboards (like Logitech K860) have lifting tabs in the front bottom, so the keyboard is tilted down instead of tilted up.

I say this as someone who enjoys and uses Apple products daily, these keyboards, while having excellent battery life and solid overall build quality, are a bad value. No backlighting in 2023? Inexcusable at the price point. Also the keys are designed the same as their laptop keys, which means the key travel distance is very minimal (about 1mm iirc) so if you're a heavier typist, this probably won't be comfortable for long periods.
