My wife and I take turns putting the account in our names every 2 years. We just alternate.

You're right. The standard plan doesn't include unlimited data. Most states have a 1.2TB/month soft data cap -- some North Eastern states are exempt from that data cap I believe. From what I understand, users who go over the data transferred per month are given one warning if they go over it the first time. The next months if they do go over the limit, they'll get charged something like $10 overage fee per 50GB, maximum of $100 overcharge fee. See: https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...ceed-usage

However, I am seeing that the Xfi Complete addon is available for $10/month extra bringing the total costs up to $35/month. For $35/month this plan still seems worth it with unlimited data and higher upload speeds (for select regions [reddit.com])***.

If anyone is going with this plan, I do recommend getting this "Xfi Complete" as it unlocks unlimited data caps (as opposed to 1.2TB without it), and it also unlocks upload speeds which for me tested out to be around 115Mbps, as opposed to something much less like 10Mbps without. For me, this add-on is essentially a required item.

For anyone's existing network setup, I actually didn't have to configure and/or make much changes to my network settings either. With Xfinity's gateway, I just logged in and switched to Bridge mode, which essentially made it a modem-only and then connected my router via ethernet wired, and everything worked as per my previous configuration I had with my previous internet service provider.

To my understanding, even 4k streaming doesn't actually take that much thruput to render this. However, if you're big into games, downloads of a single AAA game can take up to 200GB/game. Install enough games, and you're over the cap without much strain. Also, consider that if you have a console (xbox, ps5, etc.) plus PC gaming, you're likely to be installing even more games. And when/if your game gets corrupted by a service platform (UbiConnect, Epic Games, etc.) sometimes you have to re-download the whole game.
The only other scenario where your data cap might be reached may be fairly common:
You've got a family of 4, let's say. Everyone is streaming video all the time, plus the kids are installing and playing games onine. 1.2TB might not be enough. Comcast says a very small percentage of their customers reach that data cap, and in practice, for some it's probably the fear of breaching it that keeps them in line, as $10 per each 50gb extra is robbery.
During the first 6 months of Covid when everything were remote and at least 3 out of 4 family member need to use Zoom/Google Meet/WebEx for online meeting/school. May play some online gaming but those are more like cellphone game which should not use much data(?). And NO 4k streaming but 2 kids and 2 adults start watching more youtube(may be 1080p or whatever AUTO speed for AT&T DSL), there was one month over 1TB and many months close to 1TB (after started monitoring usage to avoid over the AT&T 1TB limit) during those Covid time.

So you don't have to watch 4k video nor play PC/console game to get over 1TB data a month.

But once both kids go back to in person schooling, so they spent less time on online school meeting and much less time watching youtube especially during school hours, didn't get that close to 1TB anymore (especially everyone switch to 720p or lower resolution for youtube video setting after the ).

You still need a xfinity mobile plan activated to get this price, right?
No. This is solely for internet only plans. No strings attached, no contract, no tie-ins.

I'm seeing $35/mo for 800 mbps as a new customer on the "build your own plan" page with a 2 year contract and 1200 mbps for $50/mo, both with unlimited data.

I refuse to give them my Bank Account information - I pay with CC Automatically every month - so now they're trying to penalize me if I don't give them access to my bank account.... argh
My bill went up $20 a couple months ago - on Blast....called 1x so far - got nowhere... will try again or maybe sign up for a 'new' account with my name to get the better deal...
If you do that, do they automatically close the current account at the address? or not until you activate modem? cuz I'd use the same modem...
How do you get loyalty dept via chat???

Have been on their 400Mbps plan for 8 months or so. $40 a month, pay with credit card. Seems similar to this deal. Get good speeds using my own modem and router (450/12). Can't complain. My new home is pre-wired for fiber, but prices were more expensive and I don't gig internet.

Hopefully these deals are still around in a year when I need to renew.

I still had service even with the cancellation email. Once i got email that my new service was active I just ended up unplugging my modem for 10 min and replugging it back in. then just setting up the same modem with the xfinity app.
Thank you. That's helpful. I'll keep an eye out for that activation email.

yes sign up for a new account with different name i guess. once you are a member pick the deal and enter the same address, choose new customer moving in existing address. your old account should get an email soon about service de-activated. once you get an email and confirmation about your new plan active, unplug your modem for 5 min and turn back on. now download the xfinity mobile app to re-setup the modem by just entering the mac address.

not sure why the other older thread was downvoted but I'll repost it here as maybe this will help others.

it's $25 after $10 autopay with bank account on file vs $30 ($5 off) if you set up autopay with credit card. but you can still make manual payments using credit card before the due date and you'll still qualify for the $25/mo.

this is a great deal and you lock it in for 2 years. i haven't seen it this low in a long time. usually lowest is $29 or $39 for 100 or 200 mbps.

we previously had $29/mo for 200mbps (also no taxes/fees) for the past 12 months and that just expired in feb but it was gonna raise to $63 after autopay. I tried calling the retentions dept but they didn't offer anything better and this plan wasn't offered yet.

we tried T-Mobile Home Internet for $50/mo with the free 15 day trial and was reluctant to stay with them because i had high ping/latency and would sometimes randomly drop (not often though) or speeds would fluctuate down to like 30mbps. I typically had better DL speeds at 250+ mbps most of the time and I was still able to WFH and stream, but most importantly, they had the best monthly rate at the time. I lived on the 1st floor of an apartment complex so maybe that's why I didn't have a consistent speed experience. when i saw this new deal, I cancelled the free T Mobile free trial, and started this up with my spouse's name. we usually cancel and sign up as a new customer under a different name to take advantage of the new customer deals. I think you're considered a new customer as long as you cancelled more than 3 months ago. glad this promo is for 2 years so I don't have to switch next year again.

i went through the xfinity sign up process and was able to activate service (using the previously BYOD modem that I previously used on my address) on the same day. super smooth and I didn't need to call in or talk to anyone. previous years, i would have to call in to remove the BYOD modem's MAC address off their records so i could re-register on the new account. I didn't have to do that when I cancelled last month and during the activation process on the xfinity app now, it'll prompt you to enter the modem MAC address and i was back online instantly.

I did online chat, got to their "loyalty department," and while the person said she couldn't give me the deal because I'm an existing customer, she was able to disconnect my service and then reconnect it a minute later and give me the deal.

The only problem was that she disconnected me without authorization, and it took an hour to get back because I had to use my mobile device to re-register my cable modem's MAC address. The process wasn't very smooth but if I had known what was happening, I could've asked to time it better. Also, if I knew I just had to activate the modem on the Xfinity app, that would've helped too and would've only been a few minute outage.

But now my bill says it's $72 and I have $37 a month discount and a $5 discount for autopay (credit card). So that's good. Plus, my upload speed doubled from 5 mbps to 10 mbps. Yay?
Thanks for this. So what are the steps to do ahead of time such that this goes smoother?
