You're right. The standard plan doesn't include unlimited data. Most states have a 1.2TB/month soft data cap -- some North Eastern states are exempt from that data cap I believe. From what I understand, users who go over the data transferred per month are given one warning if they go over it the first time. The next months if they do go over the limit, they'll get charged something like $10 overage fee per 50GB, maximum of $100 overcharge fee. See: https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...ceed-usage

However, I am seeing that the Xfi Complete addon is available for $10/month extra bringing the total costs up to $35/month. For $35/month this plan still seems worth it with unlimited data and higher upload speeds (for select regions [reddit.com])***.

If anyone is going with this plan, I do recommend getting this "Xfi Complete" as it unlocks unlimited data caps (as opposed to 1.2TB without it), and it also unlocks upload speeds which for me tested out to be around 115Mbps, as opposed to something much less like 10Mbps without. For me, this add-on is essentially a required item.

For anyone's existing network setup, I actually didn't have to configure and/or make much changes to my network settings either. With Xfinity's gateway, I just logged in and switched to Bridge mode, which essentially made it a modem-only and then connected my router via ethernet wired, and everything worked as per my previous configuration I had with my previous internet service provider.

I'm trying to help a friend. He and his wife are in their 80s and have internet, phone and tv with Comcast and are getting scammed at over $200/mo. If I can get this set up for them, what is going to be the easiest way to port the home phone number to the other spouses new account? If I screw this up and they lose their home phone number, they will kill me.

The middle plan has 10mbps upload.

Still a travesty that that's considered acceptable in 2023.

Call them on the phone. The cs sales rep can waive it for you most likely if you negotiate and ask nicely.

No self installation option, must choose expert installation to proceed. YMMV

I literally just paid my Xfinity bill for the month (autopay) and now want to switch to this. Do I get refunded at a prorated amount if I switch to this plan?

Step 1. Move their home phone to something like magicjack or ooma. Cheaper than Comcast.

Step 2. Sign them up for Sling or YouTube TV for $60/month.

Step 3. Move their cell phone service to and free service for seniors like SafeLink or Assurance.

Step 4. Now cancel their package and re-signup under the promotion.

Step 5. Enjoy the slick savings of at least $100 monthly

To my understanding, even 4k streaming doesn't actually take that much thruput to render this. However, if you're big into games, downloads of a single AAA game can take up to 200GB/game. Install enough games, and you're over the cap without much strain. Also, consider that if you have a console (xbox, ps5, etc.) plus PC gaming, you're likely to be installing even more games. And when/if your game gets corrupted by a service platform (UbiConnect, Epic Games, etc.) sometimes you have to re-download the whole game.
The only other scenario where your data cap might be reached may be fairly common:
You've got a family of 4, let's say. Everyone is streaming video all the time, plus the kids are installing and playing games onine. 1.2TB might not be enough. Comcast says a very small percentage of their customers reach that data cap, and in practice, for some it's probably the fear of breaching it that keeps them in line, as $10 per each 50gb extra is robbery.
I think it's more than a small percentage. They just don't want anyone to really know. As a single dad with 6 kids we are hitting the cap in a week.

Ok I finally signed up as an existing customer, online, without any human intervention. Here are the steps in order ( that is important as some others have breezed past in previous posts.)

1. Open a browser window in incognito mode, so it does not know your current customer
2. Find the deal in the front page of xfinity.com
3. Enter address, select 'Im moving here as a new customer'
4. Click thru the order process, when it reaches 'create a new login' step, enter your existing login info instead.
5. I used the exact same details as before, name, address, phone, except billing is bank account for the extra $5 discount vs CC before.
6. After submitting successfully you should receive emails that login is now linked to a new account, cancellation has been requested, and once logged in, you can choose which last 4 digits of account to see.

Other specific details of my scenario is, I was on $40/mo 75 MBs plan, out of contract, using & keeping my own equipment.

Can anyone verify upload speeds with Xfi Complete? I currently have TMobile biz internet and am fairly happy with $50/mo 300+/70 speeds. Our options here aren't that great,, but this deal, even at 200, is hard to pass up, but, I need unlimited and faster uploads. thanks!!
