My wife and I take turns putting the account in our names every 2 years. We just alternate.

You're right. The standard plan doesn't include unlimited data. Most states have a 1.2TB/month soft data cap -- some North Eastern states are exempt from that data cap I believe. From what I understand, users who go over the data transferred per month are given one warning if they go over it the first time. The next months if they do go over the limit, they'll get charged something like $10 overage fee per 50GB, maximum of $100 overcharge fee. See: https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...ceed-usage

However, I am seeing that the Xfi Complete addon is available for $10/month extra bringing the total costs up to $35/month. For $35/month this plan still seems worth it with unlimited data and higher upload speeds (for select regions [reddit.com])***.

If anyone is going with this plan, I do recommend getting this "Xfi Complete" as it unlocks unlimited data caps (as opposed to 1.2TB without it), and it also unlocks upload speeds which for me tested out to be around 115Mbps, as opposed to something much less like 10Mbps without. For me, this add-on is essentially a required item.

For anyone's existing network setup, I actually didn't have to configure and/or make much changes to my network settings either. With Xfinity's gateway, I just logged in and switched to Bridge mode, which essentially made it a modem-only and then connected my router via ethernet wired, and everything worked as per my previous configuration I had with my previous internet service provider.

i have xfinity 400 mbps for $35 right now and would like this deal. they gave me a free upgrade from 200 to 400 a while ago. i haven't really noticed a difference and wouldn't mind saving $10/month

when i log in and click on change services, switching to 200 mbps would cost me even more lol. is cancelling and signing up the only way to get this deal?
That's what I did. I cancelled my old one and opened a new one online. Just make sure your current account is not under contract with them, thus avoiding early termination fee.

It's fine. Better than most other post paid plans we've had for the price. Phones are paid off so that's not an issue.
I had similar situation years ago. Back then I contacted customer service multiple trying to link the xfinity mobile lines to the new xfinity account, but most reps have no idea what they were doing. Eventually I just port all my number to another wireless company for about a month and ported back.
It was annoying, but xfinity mobile has $100 BYOD promo for each port-in number, so you may qualify for those by doing so, so worth a shot.

For those of us that made a new account and are waiting for the current service to be cancelled, I wonder if it would expedite it if we link the new account to the current account, which should essentially recreate the same situation as the ones that managed to order it from their existing accounts (they said it created and linked a new account, which overrode the service). Just a thought.

Just wanted to share my experience.. and you can do this with keeping the same name & phone number. I chose to create a new gmail account. I had 1 month left on my 2 year contract 800MB Internet & 120+ channels cable TV package, paying $127 a month. I chose to remove bank info on the old account since I had no balance. Before doing anything, clear the cache/history on your browser, whether it's PC/laptop or phone.

I tried calling Xfinity at first, the rep kept insisting the deal wasn't available in my area and I told her it wasn't true and I knew it was for new customers. She wouldn't budge, so I told her to cancel my service immediately, which she did so. I got the cancellation email within 15 minutes, but everything was still up & running. I then did the following steps.

1. Went to xfinity.com site, signed up as a new customer moving to my current address.
2. Chose the 200MB package, decided to keep using my own modem/router.
3. It asks to verify name and SS#, so I put the same name & my SS#.
4. It'll ask for bank info/credit card and autopay. Then it'll want to link account (I suppose cuz of the same phone # used on old account) I chose not to link my new account.
5. You'll then be asked to create an account, put your real name, phone & new email.
6. You'll then be shown the info about your new service, you'll scroll down to the bottom, accept by checking all 3 boxes, and complete the order.

You'll receive a confirmation email to your new email account within minutes. On your phone, install the Xfinity app, or sign out of the old account if you already have the app. Sign in using your new sign-in & password, then on the top left corner, click the lil icon, scroll down to activate xfinity xfi gateway or modem, then it'll ask for your modem's MAC ID (12 digits/letters) and you should be set.

Good luck!

Thank you. This sounds like an earlier post, except that it looks like they chose to link accounts, because they said they had the choice of which account they wanted to go to when they logged in. Anyone else have input re keeping same personal information? I have my own modem, but it makes sense to me to get the gateway with unlimited data.

I had 1 month left on my 2 yr contract, which expires 4/29, but I don't care paying $10 ETF.

so the 200mbps deal is great...but what's the best deal for faster speeds right now if doing the new customer thing? I want gigabit with unlimited data...currently paying around $123 a month...what's the best I can get for that right now?

You're welcome. I'm gonna try the same method on a relative's account, but I'll be getting their gateway. I'll activate the old modem until they receive the new one, which I will then activate to swap out with the old.

Same here. I thought it was only my connection issue. I still remember when Xfinity upgraded my 600Mbps service to 800Mbps for free (automatically) last year I actually saw around 700Mbps Downstream bandwidth for a month or so. After that slowly it got reduced and now I hardly see some 200Mbps - 250Mbps :-(. I took 600Mbps service mainly for the increase in Upstream (20Mbps -23Mbps).

Not sure if anyone has this problem yet.. I'd cancelled my subscription and used my spouse to create a new account (new customer), I'd lost the HBO max subscription. I can't sign in w my (cancelled) credential w Xfinity anymore and can't login to HBO w the new account.. Not sure what to do now. I think the promotion for 1 yr HBO max has ended? Please let me know. TIA

20 years with a company grants you a GREAT phone call with the Retentions Department.

Call up Comcast and say the magic word "cancel service". They will route you to someone that will beg you to stay.
nothing happened. They wouldn't do anything to keep their loyal customers. I ended up canceling mine and open a new one under my spouse

Ok I finally signed up as an existing customer, online, without any human intervention. Here are the steps in order ( that is important as some others have breezed past in previous posts.)

1. Open a browser window in incognito mode, so it does not know your current customer
2. Find the deal in the front page of xfinity.com
3. Enter address, select 'Im moving here as a new customer'
4. Click thru the order process, when it reaches 'create a new login' step, enter your existing login info instead.
5. I used the exact same details as before, name, address, phone, except billing is bank account for the extra $5 discount vs CC before.
6. After submitting successfully you should receive emails that login is now linked to a new account, cancellation has been requested, and once logged in, you can choose which last 4 digits of account to see.

Other specific details of my scenario is, I was on $40/mo 75 MBs plan, out of contract, using & keeping my own equipment.
ApplauseApplause I managed to replicate your method , i kept everything the same as the original account, just one difference gonna use my own wireles 2.4/5g moden/router , logged back to accout and i see the 2 accounts, from $82 to $25 same speed. fingers crossedworshipworshipworship
