My wife and I take turns putting the account in our names every 2 years. We just alternate.

You're right. The standard plan doesn't include unlimited data. Most states have a 1.2TB/month soft data cap -- some North Eastern states are exempt from that data cap I believe. From what I understand, users who go over the data transferred per month are given one warning if they go over it the first time. The next months if they do go over the limit, they'll get charged something like $10 overage fee per 50GB, maximum of $100 overcharge fee. See: https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...ceed-usage

However, I am seeing that the Xfi Complete addon is available for $10/month extra bringing the total costs up to $35/month. For $35/month this plan still seems worth it with unlimited data and higher upload speeds (for select regions [reddit.com])***.

If anyone is going with this plan, I do recommend getting this "Xfi Complete" as it unlocks unlimited data caps (as opposed to 1.2TB without it), and it also unlocks upload speeds which for me tested out to be around 115Mbps, as opposed to something much less like 10Mbps without. For me, this add-on is essentially a required item.

For anyone's existing network setup, I actually didn't have to configure and/or make much changes to my network settings either. With Xfinity's gateway, I just logged in and switched to Bridge mode, which essentially made it a modem-only and then connected my router via ethernet wired, and everything worked as per my previous configuration I had with my previous internet service provider.

Correct. I had 5 months left on a 12-month term. I figured there was no way I'd be changing plans within a year, but it turns out I was wrong. Smilie

The savings are well worth the ETF.
You didn't cancel service you just changed plan so ETF doesn't apply to you unless they cancelled your account and gave you new account number.

I was kind of in the same boat where I had two accounts showing up in my login and they were both active today even though the old one was supposed to be terminated 12am this morning. My other issue was also that my Xfinity Mobile was still with the old account so called Xfinity Mobile first and had them link the phone lines to the new account. Then called Xfinity Internet folks to make sure the old Internet account was cancelled. The agent indicated that the old account was scheduled to be cancelled on March 29 to give me enough time to return any equipment I have from the old account and will be billed until that date if billing is not stopped. I promptly asked him to stop the billing on old account effective yesterday's date when my new account was created and activated. He did it and I now have 10 days to return the equipment and I won't be billed for these 10 days. I believe he said the old account will be deleted/inactive after 10 days.

You may want to call and ask them to stop billing effective whenever you activate the new account.
Thank you for sharing, I just did this. I was in the same situation. They said service would have been cancelled on 3/29. I already activated my new service this morning, and chat support was able to cancel the old account effective today.

Our house has 2 xfinity service/account for each floor. Had the xfi complete with their network extender, but signal and speed was shit on the 2nd floor when router is at in-law unit. Tried with other top rated Orbi mesh routers, still couldn't get decent speed. Sister decided to open another account for 2nd floor alone.

If I sign up as a new customer, would it cancel both previous account for this home?
whatever account you want to replace with this deal, sign up with a new name and make sure you select the right address under that account you are trying to replace. (ex: 123 deal st. floor 1). When entering the address it should notify you that an account exists already. Just click new customer moving to current address.

They canceled the contract plan, which is what triggered the ETF, at least according to them. I won't know for sure until I get my next bill.

My Xfinity account still shows me as a diamond rewards member, so I don't belive that they closed my account and opened a new one. <shrug>

Thanks so much for this. I got rid of a $160+ "package" and now have the same 400mbs speed with no limits for $40. And I got a free flex (which I'll probably never use).
Outstanding!

Cool I guess, but that deal with ATT costs a lot more than $25 or $30 and a lot of people can't get fiber.

For anybody that did this by signing up for a new account, and has the Xfinity router, were you able to activate the new account on the existing router? I don't need new hardware, and I want to minimize downtime. I suppose if I can just get retentions to do it, that would be the easiest.

I planned to go on the 800 speed since it includes xFi complete with no data caps for 24 months. I'm about 22 months into my discounted plan just like that, so want to take advantage of re-upping the free xFi Complete for another 24 months while it's available.

No it does not show pending. Where exactly do you see it? Not sure if it is related but I was going to use my own router and modem.

It says max 5 devices?? Are they nuts just appliances alone and gaming consoles will use up to 5...
5 devices is their sales pitch for "oh you probably need a faster plan if you want more devices " you are not limited to 5 devices at a time...

According Xfinity Forums ETF only applies if cancel all services. You can change service without ETF i would call and get $50 back if they try charge you on next month bill.

https://forums.xfinity.com/conver...08cd5d1de5

If you are under a contract and you need to cancel service, you may be subject to an early termination fee (ETF).

If you move to a Comcast serviceable area, and transfer service, you are not charged.
If you move to a Comcast serviceable area, and do not sign up for service, then the ETF would apply.
If you move to a non-Comcast serviceable area, then the ETF does apply.
If it is an active duty military deployment, then the ETF will be waived when you send documentation.
If the account holder is deceased, the ETF will be waived upon receiving a death certificate or obituary.
If you downgrade service, then the ETF will not apply.
If you have a Double/Triple Play and remove all but one service, then the ETF will not apply.
