My wife and I take turns putting the account in our names every 2 years. We just alternate.

You're right. The standard plan doesn't include unlimited data. Most states have a 1.2TB/month soft data cap -- some North Eastern states are exempt from that data cap I believe. From what I understand, users who go over the data transferred per month are given one warning if they go over it the first time. The next months if they do go over the limit, they'll get charged something like $10 overage fee per 50GB, maximum of $100 overcharge fee. See: https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...ceed-usage

However, I am seeing that the Xfi Complete addon is available for $10/month extra bringing the total costs up to $35/month. For $35/month this plan still seems worth it with unlimited data and higher upload speeds (for select regions [reddit.com])***.

If anyone is going with this plan, I do recommend getting this "Xfi Complete" as it unlocks unlimited data caps (as opposed to 1.2TB without it), and it also unlocks upload speeds which for me tested out to be around 115Mbps, as opposed to something much less like 10Mbps without. For me, this add-on is essentially a required item.

For anyone's existing network setup, I actually didn't have to configure and/or make much changes to my network settings either. With Xfinity's gateway, I just logged in and switched to Bridge mode, which essentially made it a modem-only and then connected my router via ethernet wired, and everything worked as per my previous configuration I had with my previous internet service provider.

I got a huge black monolithic one.......gateway that is. Wink

I am going to run it in bridged mode anyways, but I'm sure it sucks down more watts than my smaller modem

Update: Because I see this deal has reached FP, I noticed the FP bulletpoint stated this offer was for unlimited data. This is not entirely accurate for all situations at the current price point. I've notified a moderator to see if they can get that fixed. But for now, I'll update my post about this.
I am not sure I will need the uncapped upload speeds, but if I find that I do, can I add the xFi complete for $10 later, or does it have to be done at the point of purchase for this deal? Anyone know?

Did you use the existing email to sign up a new account? Otherwise, how can you use the existing account login as it is tied to the email? Thanks.

Thanks for the detailed steps. I did exactly this but one change being I added my new account to the existing account login. As soon as I signed up, I saw both account numbers under my login and also received an email stating that the old account will be cancelled midnight today. One perk of using the existing login was that I am still a PLATINUM rewards member from being an Xfinity customer for 9 years and they don't treat me as a new member for rewards purposes. I waited until midnight to reset my modem and activate the new account thru Xfinity app. Was up and running in less than 10 minutes or so.

I am so glad it worked as mine was a little complicated situation. I had Xfinity Internet with Basic TV (10 channels) for eight years as I was told over the years by agents that bundle would be cheaper compared to Internet alone. I was paying $75 for 100 Mbps and 10 TV channels. A few months ago they increased speed to 200 Mbps and increased the bill to $85. I tried to signup for this deal yesterday but couldn't as I was on a bundle deal. Called the customer service yesterday and was offered a Internet only 400 Mbps plan for $77 with 12 month contract which I signed up for. This allowed me to go into my account today and do the steps you listed above to downgrade to 200 Mbps for $25. I don't need 400 Mbps.
Other complication was that I was signed up for Xfinity Mobile $12/GB data plan. Since the old Internet account was tied to the Xfinity Mobile plan, I couldn't log into the Xfinity Mobile app as soon as the old Internet account was cancelled. After a 10 minute call late night, the agent was able to connect my Xfinity Mobile account (was given a new account number) to the new Internet account and assured me that I will see all my info on Xfinity Mobile by 7 am and all my pricing will remain the same as before. Hopefully this works and will be a guide to others like me who have Xfinity Mobile connected to the Xfinity Internet.

The home is wired and is currently getting service, yet when I attempt to re-sign up, there's a mandatory pro install charge.
Hmmm... That means Xfinity does not have data about the fact that the place is wired. I think you should call or chat with them. I always had gotten any issue that I had resolved through call or chat. I had better luck with call though it does means you are engaged for quite a bit of time.

You didn't cancel service you just changed plan so ETF doesn't apply to you unless they cancelled your account and gave you new account number.
The terms of the offer clearly say it is not for existing customers, new customers only.

After he cancels his service and pays the ETF he can be considered a new customer and get the special offer.

Yes, I was logged into my account in one window and started a new window with the deal from Slickdeals. I did pick new customer moving into the address when I signed up. The new account was then tied to the same Xfinity login. Since I had Xfinity Mobile, I had to call Xfinity Mobile 2 times and Xfinity Internet 1 time to have all the issues resolved and connect the Mobile account to the new Internet account. Not sure if it would have been any different if I had signed up my spouse for this new deal and cancelled my account.

The hilarious part is that you guys are reducing your internet speed even though internet is a big part of your life....just to save a few bucks
So if I go from 200Mb to 1Gb, I'll have to watch a 100 minute movie in 20 minutes? I'd rather save a few buck and watch it at normal speed!

Called and talked to 4 different retention dept agents. None of them "could" cancel my current plan and sign me up for the deal.

So I gave up and did the same Incognito trick as everyone else in this thread, but with one difference. For the step where you create your xfinity ID, I chose to "sign-in" to my existing xfinity account instead of creating a new ID.
This still allowed the order to go through, but now I have 2 accounts linked to my xfinity ID. I did get an email saying that my older account will be canceled at midnight today.

Big difference. w/ Fiber you're not sharing with other people. Hands down, Sonic is best value internet out there. Also uncapped.
That's not how things work. You always share at some point. You don't get your own fiber optic cable plugging into the internet backbone.

I agree with you. I was on a 100 Mbps plan for several years and very recently Xfinity removed this tier and moved me to 200 Mbps with an increase in bill. Honestly, I did not see any difference. I have couple 4K TVs, several smart devices, hue lights, switches, doorbells, cameras, 4 phones, iPads, etc but never had any issue with 100 Mbps. So 200 Mbps is a bonus for me. I don't game just stream movies so don't need gigabit speed. I am saving more than $50/month with this deal so no regrets.

I did exactly this but not in incognito mode. Even though I received email stating my old account will be cancelled midnight it was still active past the following afternoon. When I called the customer service, the agent informed that my account was scheduled to be active until March 29 to give me time to return any equipment from the old account and I would be billed until then unless I stopped billing. I requested the agent to stop billing immediately and now I have 10 days to return the equipment. I suggest you call tomorrow if the old account is still active past mid morning tomorrow and if you have have already activated the new account.

The increased upload speed with xFi complete seems to be highly YMMV.

First, it's not available in all US regions. Below is a reddit post from an xfinity employee, detailing where the increased upload speed has been deployed so far (as of 1 month ago)
https://www.reddit.com/r/Comcast_...ing_to_be/

Second, the modem xfinity is sending out for this deal seems to be the XB3, which is old and highly unlikely to support anything faster than 50Mbps for upload speed.

Somehow I signed up for the new promo and kept my existing account. Their website and app are pretty screwy. The first time I tried it aborted at the final page like happened to several others here. But the second time everything went through using my existing account. My speed increased to 230Mbps within 15 min and my account shows the new plan and same old account number. Curious how my next bill reflects the change but so far so good. Thanks again OP and SlickDeals!
