My wife and I take turns putting the account in our names every 2 years. We just alternate.

You're right. The standard plan doesn't include unlimited data. Most states have a 1.2TB/month soft data cap -- some North Eastern states are exempt from that data cap I believe. From what I understand, users who go over the data transferred per month are given one warning if they go over it the first time. The next months if they do go over the limit, they'll get charged something like $10 overage fee per 50GB, maximum of $100 overcharge fee. See: https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...ceed-usage

However, I am seeing that the Xfi Complete addon is available for $10/month extra bringing the total costs up to $35/month. For $35/month this plan still seems worth it with unlimited data and higher upload speeds (for select regions [reddit.com])***.

If anyone is going with this plan, I do recommend getting this "Xfi Complete" as it unlocks unlimited data caps (as opposed to 1.2TB without it), and it also unlocks upload speeds which for me tested out to be around 115Mbps, as opposed to something much less like 10Mbps without. For me, this add-on is essentially a required item.

For anyone's existing network setup, I actually didn't have to configure and/or make much changes to my network settings either. With Xfinity's gateway, I just logged in and switched to Bridge mode, which essentially made it a modem-only and then connected my router via ethernet wired, and everything worked as per my previous configuration I had with my previous internet service provider.

What modem do you own? I'm wondering if it's DOCSIS 3.0 or 3.1...

Yep it did later in the day.

On the new plan already with the higher speed. Didn't even have to switch equipment.

As I have my own modem and router, just had to power cycle the modem and activate.
I noticed on my online receipt for xfi complete it says that if you don't connect and keep the xfi gateway within 30 days you lose the unlimited download and will be subject to 1.2tb cap.

i took this deal coming from $35/month for 400 mbps xfinity service with my own modem. you can check if you're on contract with an ETF if you click your profile pic, click "account and idenity", scroll then to "legal" and click on your contract

i followed the steps here and everything played out as they said it would

https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=162311233&postcount=450
and also the steps posted by FantasticTable7891

i also chatted with xfinity to ask when the old account would be deactivated and the guy said april 3.

he said "The new account will be active once the old get completely disconnect."

i asked if he could switch it today and said he would have someone call me back about that because he was unable to change the cancellation date. let's see how this goes...

Hmm, so my contract (with $10 remaining ETF) ends in 2 weeks... Do I need to call in an early cancellation first, or would it be safe to setup a new account with a family member and allow the services to run concurrently until the the first contract expires, which I'll cancel April 3rd?

We've alternated names/accounts for new promos without issue before, but always finished the contract period first.

Tech showed up and got the Xfinity coax dropped to the house. I activated the XB3 and am getting 200/10. Was hoping that upload would be faster; that's why I went with the xFi complete plan... guess it's not possible to get faster upload with this deal in the Detroit area?

Also, called to cancel my Wowway and they said that they can't disconnect until the end of my billing cycle.... seems like a money-grab/reason to not give me a pro-rated refund. Anyone have experience with them in this regard?

Shit. Can you verify you have the xfi complete activated? I wanted to do this but need faster uploads

Did this ever get resolved and what did you have to do?
According to the cancellation request email, I expected the existing service to be terminated last night; however I received another cancellation email saying the service will end on 2 weeks later. I am not sure why it takes 2 weeks of time. They also shipped me something even though I have my own modem/router

How do I verify it's activated? I see that my bill is $35 in the app as it stands....

You can force cancellation and switch to the new account. I did it myself in the Xfinity app. Pretty sure can be done on the website
I cannot find these options on Xfinity app and website.
I received another email saying the service cancellation will be done 2 weeks later instead of immediately

4 will do. But don't most of the cheaper options only come with 1?
Ok, sorry. If you're not getting the XB3, and use your own modem, and need more than one hardwired connection, you can add a router, which will have 4 jacks, and which will give you Wi-Fi. Or you can get a switch, which is cheaper, but doesn't have wireless capabilities.

You have to make sure when signing up you unchecked the slider for 2 year. Sleazy comcast has it turned on by default and.pricing remains same.

Let me check mine.
