My wife and I take turns putting the account in our names every 2 years. We just alternate.

You're right. The standard plan doesn't include unlimited data. Most states have a 1.2TB/month soft data cap -- some North Eastern states are exempt from that data cap I believe. From what I understand, users who go over the data transferred per month are given one warning if they go over it the first time. The next months if they do go over the limit, they'll get charged something like $10 overage fee per 50GB, maximum of $100 overcharge fee. See: https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...ceed-usage

However, I am seeing that the Xfi Complete addon is available for $10/month extra bringing the total costs up to $35/month. For $35/month this plan still seems worth it with unlimited data and higher upload speeds (for select regions [reddit.com])***.

If anyone is going with this plan, I do recommend getting this "Xfi Complete" as it unlocks unlimited data caps (as opposed to 1.2TB without it), and it also unlocks upload speeds which for me tested out to be around 115Mbps, as opposed to something much less like 10Mbps without. For me, this add-on is essentially a required item.

For anyone's existing network setup, I actually didn't have to configure and/or make much changes to my network settings either. With Xfinity's gateway, I just logged in and switched to Bridge mode, which essentially made it a modem-only and then connected my router via ethernet wired, and everything worked as per my previous configuration I had with my previous internet service provider.

We are planning on selling this house and moving to a place without comcast in a year. If my wife signs up for this and cancels it in year, is there a penalty?

With xfi complete? shouldn't it be like 80 or something? Ugh…
Yes with Xfi Complete. There is some confusion folks thinking that the Complete bundle gives you higher upload speeds.

This is EXTREMELY ymmv, the higher upload speeds can be attained if and only IF Comcast has upgraded your neighborhood cabling with Mid Splice, they literally have to splice cables and do some stuff. Not all regions and areas have this mid splice done. And if you have a higher end modem won't help either.. the physical network cabling has to be upgraded.

XFI COMPLETE is a pre requisite to get those higher speeds if your area is already eligible for higher uploads via midsplice.

The Xfi Complete is mainly for rental of their modem, and UNLIMITED Data no 1.2tb caps

I wish this was clearly poster in OP In caps.

I got the Xfi add on mainly foe higher upload speeds.

After 24 hours, things went up to 240/120 and stayed there. Also happy with the wifi range of the xb7.

My only complaint is I don't see a way to do port forwarding where I can remap the port.
Did you originally receive an old xb3 and you went to the local xfinity store to get the xb6 or 7? I tried and tried to get the online chat guy to give me one of the newer modems but he wouldn't. He told me the newer ones won't even work with my 200 mbps internet plan, as it only works with speeds of 800 or higher... which sounded fishy to me.

Link? not finding anything for just a single line of internet, if you bundle up to 4 different services sure( internet, mobile, TV, Security)...
Yeah, it just must be what jaggsta said. It only showed up after putting in my address. When I looked at this deal a week ago, it didn't have the $200 visa card. My procrastination finally pays off for once LMAO

Update:
I was going to wait until the existing service stops, however I could find menu "activate your modem" on the Xfinity app. This only appears after sign-out, and sign-in again to choose the newly set account within the existing comcast ID. Then I did the activation by adding some code of my modem/router. DANG, now my speed is 200/10 instead of what I had previously. I believe comcast will charge me pro-rated
Thank you for giving such a detailed account of your process. Very helpful!

Called and canceled my 800mb plan and opened a new account for the 200. Had to call back to process cancellation immediately so I could move my modem over. Very low effort by the rep to get me to stay. Unfortunately we don't have any options here aside from satellite or TMHI which I am actually testing now - works pretty well here but Xfinity 200mb is twice as fast for essentially the same price as TMHI. Would love to never be an Xfinity customer for the rest of my life but stuck with them for now.

Happy to pay half of what I was paying for the next two years with no contract. Maybe we'll finally get some competition in that time and I can easily switch.

I actually have TMHI and also got this $35 deal combined cost me 70$ but we'll worth it. Sometimes TMHI has weird dns routing issues or lags. Comcast should help Bridge those issues esp since I WFh and need solid reliable network connection.

There is a link let me see if I can find it.

I am in Midwest Illinois and unfortunately don't have that mid splice..

Easier way to tell is when you check what plans you have for your address if you see 2000 Mbps down and up *symmetric* you probably are in New region.

Yep, a few times a week ping spikes to 500+ and speeds go to crap on tests. Sometimes reconnecting to Wi-Fi will fix it but usually eventually requires rebooting my Nokia trash can. My location is not technically "in service" so still works quite well for the price. I bash Xfinity for their support and customer service, but I've had it at the same location for almost 15 years and it's been extremely solid and reliable.

If you search for speeds that are available at your address, and have the gigabit x2 option, then your area has the mid split already, whether you'll get the x7/8 modem to support it is another question, the x3 it seems does not.

So I am currently under a 1-year contract, with 8 more months to go. If I cancel my existing service, I will be charged an ETF. Does anyone know if the following will work:

1). Change the existing plan from "contract" to "no contract"

2). Cancel the existing "no contract" plan/service. I am assuming that I won't be charged an ETF, but am not sure

3). Sign-up for this new 200 Mbps ($25/month) plan using my existing account credentials

I am hoping that if I do it this way, I will avoid paying the ETF. Any thoughts?

Thanks
Did you ever get an answer for this? I'm in the same boat. Thanks!

The highest I can get is gigabit extra, which is 1200mb. I suppose that's probably not what you're referring to, is it? Frown
