My wife and I take turns putting the account in our names every 2 years. We just alternate.

You're right. The standard plan doesn't include unlimited data. Most states have a 1.2TB/month soft data cap -- some North Eastern states are exempt from that data cap I believe. From what I understand, users who go over the data transferred per month are given one warning if they go over it the first time. The next months if they do go over the limit, they'll get charged something like $10 overage fee per 50GB, maximum of $100 overcharge fee. See: https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...ceed-usage

However, I am seeing that the Xfi Complete addon is available for $10/month extra bringing the total costs up to $35/month. For $35/month this plan still seems worth it with unlimited data and higher upload speeds (for select regions [reddit.com])***.

If anyone is going with this plan, I do recommend getting this "Xfi Complete" as it unlocks unlimited data caps (as opposed to 1.2TB without it), and it also unlocks upload speeds which for me tested out to be around 115Mbps, as opposed to something much less like 10Mbps without. For me, this add-on is essentially a required item.

For anyone's existing network setup, I actually didn't have to configure and/or make much changes to my network settings either. With Xfinity's gateway, I just logged in and switched to Bridge mode, which essentially made it a modem-only and then connected my router via ethernet wired, and everything worked as per my previous configuration I had with my previous internet service provider.

Did you ever get an answer for this? I'm in the same boat. Thanks!
i've been doing this with comcast. i'm on contract. when a better deal comes along, i just upgrade to that service. comcast is clear that just as long as you don't discontinue service with them, your contract will not be considered terminated -- hence, you will not be charged ETF.

speciffically for this new promotion, i was on $24.99 for 75 mbps. when i saw this, i just upgraded to 200 mbps for an additional $0.01. and of course, my contract period was extended to the period/length. but, i was not charged a ETF.

make sure you do not CANCEL or disconnect!!! instead, UPGRADE to this service.

i do not know about downgrade scenarios though. for example, you were on a gigabit service and you download to 200 mbps. if you were paying for example $120 before and want to go down to $25, if comcast will consider that downgrade as a termination. i've only been doing upgrades with no ETF and extending my contract period.

holy shit! badass! Looks like my city has it! I don't think my address has it yet, but I think I'm gonna bite the bullet and hope my neighborhood gets it soon!

You know what's shitty?? I was a beta tester for Jones Intercable (before comcast bought them) waaaaaayyy back and the cable modems we all got to play with were UNCAPPED. sigh...

Yep, a few times a week ping spikes to 500+ and speeds go to crap on tests. Sometimes reconnecting to Wi-Fi will fix it but usually eventually requires rebooting my Nokia trash can. My location is not technically "in service" so still works quite well for the price. I bash Xfinity for their support and customer service, but I've had it at the same location for almost 15 years and it's been extremely solid and reliable.
I don' want to leave my TMobile biz.. I get great upload speeds 100MB+.. and it's been super reliable compared to the comcast BUSINESS I used to have for more than a decade.. but.,, at $35/mo for unlimited and eventually fast upload speeds, I gotta do it-- for the modem bridge capability and it's cheaper (I can't get cheaper TMobile because of my old plan). FWIW, all the folks I got on TMobile internet love it and have zero issues provided they get 3+ bars at their home.

I personally use the Rental Gateway for xfinitywifi hotspot as secondary network since it gives you different Xfinity IP Address at 30Mbps and data doesn't count toward monthly usage on xfinitywifi hotspot.
I didn't realize that they opened up a hotspot; I was wondering why the WiFi light were still flickering after I turned off WiFi in settings and set the XB3 to bridge mode. How does one access the hotspot and is there any way to splice that bandwidth into our own network to increase upload speed?

I have the same thing. First email was to cancel the next day (which would be today 3/20) and received a second email stating the cancelation is 4/3. Can I just chat with Xfinity to get them to cancel ASAP so I can activate the new account?
I could do it by myself through the app. Just sign-out, close the app completely, sign-in again, choose new account, activate your own modem.
Switching happened in a few minutes. Old account shows "Flex" only in the app, while the new account have "internet". + I returned my Flex device, and the staff made the old account "inactive service".
There is comment from another customer who failed to activate but did it with staff help. You may try the app, and then chat with them if you need help.

Thanks for the reply. I'm actually on the 200 mbps plan right now, so I can't really upgrade to it. I can downgrade to the 75 mbps plan but it is actually $6/month more but it says no contract. So I'm debating if I should try it or not. Or if I will get stuck with the slower plan for more money. Anyone have any thoughts?

i took this deal coming from $35/month for 400 mbps xfinity service with my own modem. you can check if you're on contract with an ETF if you click your profile pic, click "account and idenity", scroll then to "legal" and click on your contract

i followed the steps here and everything played out as they said it would

https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=162311233&postcount=450
and also the steps posted by FantasticTable7891

i also chatted with xfinity to ask when the old account would be deactivated and the guy said april 3.

he said "The new account will be active once the old get completely disconnect."

i asked if he could switch it today and said he would have someone call me back about that because he was unable to change the cancellation date. let's see how this goes...
update: i chatted with xfinity again today to ask if my services could switch today. they asked for my mac id and 10 seconds later, my internet stopped working. i went into the xfinity app, tapped on activate modem, entered my mac id and internet started working in like 2 minutes. 200 down/10 up

after i was done, i realized i forgot to hard reset my modem before activating my new account but everything is working fine.

i just need to check in with billing tomorrow during business hours to make sure i get prorated for the month i already paid when i was on the 400 down plan

Hmm, what am I doing wrong? I'm also on contract (2 weeks left) for the 75mbs at $25 even. When I try to upgrade speed, it tacks on an extra $10/month for the 200mbs service making it $50 pre-discounts.

Edit: Strange, it works if I am logged out when I try to search for and add internet services. Enter in an address, choose to proceed as the current homeowner, upgrade speed, and THEN the correct price shows up. Doesn't work properly if I'm already logged in and try to upgrade speed via the account page. Idiotic.

Did you originally receive an old xb3 and you went to the local xfinity store to get the xb6 or 7? I tried and tried to get the online chat guy to give me one of the newer modems but he wouldn't. He told me the newer ones won't even work with my 200 mbps internet plan, as it only works with speeds of 800 or higher... which sounded fishy to me.
That sounds like bs to me... All I did was go through the online ordering procedure, making sure to add on xFi complete. When I got to the store, they tried to give me an xb3, but their system said to give an xb7. Maybe I just got lucky?

even in Bridge Mode the Rental Gateways Broadcast about 10 Hidden Networks between 2.4ghz and 5ghz channels for Xfinity home security and Wireless TV boxes. If have wifi device that can see hidden networks.

If want to use the hotspot bandwidth with main connection you can load balance with OpenWRT router or use Speedify App on PC can combine wifi+ethernet devices into 1 connection.

My Xfinity internet service was 400mpbs at $39.99 for 12month. I was at the last month of the promised rate, and the monthly bill was going to change to $99.99. I was looking for the way to reduce the future payment.

Thanks to the Slickdeals comments, I could set up the current 200mpbs at $25 for 24months, without term contract.
<btw, I could actually choose to renew the contract by having 12month term, 400mbps at $30/mo for 24 months as existing customer.>
I choose the get the current deal because I want to be ready to get any better deal at any time. (I am also a non-resident of USA but temporal with J visa; I don't know when I will leave!)

Here is what I did;
1) visit xfinity website using incognito mode (chrome), and find the prices by using the current address. (I chose as I am a new customer moving to this address)
2) choose 200mpbs deal and customize (flex device, xFi etc; my place said xFi complete for 20/mo so I just skipped it)
3) use the same name, phone, email. The system will say they found a matching account. I chose to link. They asked my BOD to verify the ID. Then I chose one of the registered payment option.
4) the order was placed, and I received several emails from Xfinity;
- Your Xfinity accounts are now linked (I see new account number after login with my comcast id)
- We received your cancellation request (service disconnected: internet and TV, as I received a flex device for free - I will return it)
- Thanks for choosing Xfinity
- Thanks, here is your Xfinity order confirmation (200 mbps one)
5) I am waiting for the old service to be stopped, then I will chat on xfinity app to reset my modem/router. (I have my own one, as xfinity did not offer a free rental previously)
6) I will bring the Flex device to one of the Xfinity shop for return. I am going to take a video of it, just for the case that they say the device is not returned

btw I am not sure if slickdeal rebate can work in incognito mode lol

trying this now, but it keeps redirecting me to the homepage after I click submit order Mad

EDIT: it finally worked wooo. Can I just go pickup a new modem from the store even though store pickup wasn't a choice at checkout?

My parents currently have their own equipment at home, but I wanted to lock them into this promo since they are not heavy users. Does anyone know if their current service would be disconnected immediately/within 24 hours once I submit the order for this plan while the Comcast gateway is shipped out?
