My wife and I take turns putting the account in our names every 2 years. We just alternate.

You're right. The standard plan doesn't include unlimited data. Most states have a 1.2TB/month soft data cap -- some North Eastern states are exempt from that data cap I believe. From what I understand, users who go over the data transferred per month are given one warning if they go over it the first time. The next months if they do go over the limit, they'll get charged something like $10 overage fee per 50GB, maximum of $100 overcharge fee. See: https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...ceed-usage

However, I am seeing that the Xfi Complete addon is available for $10/month extra bringing the total costs up to $35/month. For $35/month this plan still seems worth it with unlimited data and higher upload speeds (for select regions [reddit.com])***.

If anyone is going with this plan, I do recommend getting this "Xfi Complete" as it unlocks unlimited data caps (as opposed to 1.2TB without it), and it also unlocks upload speeds which for me tested out to be around 115Mbps, as opposed to something much less like 10Mbps without. For me, this add-on is essentially a required item.

For anyone's existing network setup, I actually didn't have to configure and/or make much changes to my network settings either. With Xfinity's gateway, I just logged in and switched to Bridge mode, which essentially made it a modem-only and then connected my router via ethernet wired, and everything worked as per my previous configuration I had with my previous internet service provider.

The current deal they're advertising around here is $50 a month for two years for internet and cell service through them with unlimited data

If it wasn't such a hassle already to get my phone service transferred to the new account I made to get this deal I'd try getting the $50 a month one since I have limited data on my phone for $18 a month and getting unlimited on both for a bit more than I'm paying now would be great.

The promotion shows up on this page:

Ok I finally signed up as an existing customer, online, without any human intervention. Here are the steps in order ( that is important as some others have breezed past in previous posts.)

1. Open a browser window in incognito mode, so it does not know your current customer
2. Find the deal in the front page of xfinity.com
3. Enter address, select 'Im moving here as a new customer'
4. Click thru the order process, when it reaches 'create a new login' step, enter your existing login info instead.
5. I used the exact same details as before, name, address, phone, except billing is bank account for the extra $5 discount vs CC before.
6. After submitting successfully you should receive emails that login is now linked to a new account, cancellation has been requested, and once logged in, you can choose which last 4 digits of account to see.

Other specific details of my scenario is, I was on $40/mo 75 MBs plan, out of contract, using & keeping my own equipment.
Thanks for these steps! I followed and was able to replicate.
Only difference for me is I am using Xfinity gateway so I will be getting new equipment shipped to me as it is not possible for me to re-use my current equipment with my new account at least doing it this way.

I first got an email titled "Your Xfinity ID is now linked to another Xfinity Account
Inbox", then order confirmation email for new account, then cancellation request email which showed last day of service already being that same day at 12am (this time was already passed).
Then I got another cancellation email saying my last day of service is now 5/16.

Earlier today I received an email about my equipment being on its way and shortly after I had a voicemail about the below.
Quote from ryan3531 :
They're calling to tell you that someone else signed up for service at your address and ask if that's correct and you want to move service/cancel. I answered the call and told them to cancel the service two days in the future (when I expected to already have the new modem activated) and that's what they did.
After reading this I called them back, confirmed my info. They asked me for the last 4 digits of the account that I wanted to cancel and when I wanted the last day of service to be, which I said to make for Friday 5/5. They didnt question me at all about why Im cancelling and signing up again at my same address with all of my same info, which I was worried about. My new equipment should arrive tomorrow or Thursday so if everything works out I should have a fairly seamless cut-over without losing any internet access.

Overall, fairly easy process thanks to the comments in this thread. I am cutting my bill from $105/mo to $75/mo locked in for another 2yrs (doing 800Mbps plan w/ xFi Complete). Only thing I wish I was able to do was keep my existing equipment since I have the latest XB8 gateway..really hoping they dont send me some old trash that I have to go and try to exchange.

I don't think so. The current promotion seems to be $50 a month for two years for the same speed as this deal (200Mbps) and their cell service. I linked the offer page above in my previous post.

I followed this process and it seemed to work. The next morning, Xfinity rep (sounded overseas) called to confirm the new order and that I wanted to cancel the old account number XYZ. I was half asleep so I said yes, confirm to cancel the old account. I didn't have any way to look up which account number was which.

This put me into a week of limbo where my service still worked, but logging into my Xfinity shows multiple addresses with my address listed twice. Most of the time when I selected one account or the other, it would error out trying to pull up my billing since I was trying to figure out which one was which and what account number correlated to old or new. Speed tests shows about 89Mbps, which was around the same as my old (75Mbps plan). After about 7 days, the billing started pulling up the $25 plan, but the duplicate service still shows up on my account. I can't confirm which plan I am actually on, except for the price, since billing says no bill until a month and selecting "change plan" (to see which it think is current) errors out saying there is an order in progress. I'm not sure how to clear all this up or if it will clear up by itself at some point.

When ordering, I declined the XF gateway box since my current Arris SB6183 is supposed to be good for up to 400Mbps service, but I wonder if that is the reason I can't get the new speeds. I used chat rep and he said he did something and after 12 hrs my account would be fine but it doesn't seem to have changed.

Anybody know if I need to use their gateway to get the higher speeds?

I signed up for 200Mbps + xFi Complete service for $35 ($25 + $10) back in March. I activated the service with the provided XB3, then switched to my own SB8200 after a couple days. I was told that with own modem xFi Complete would be $30 add-on instead of $10. But it's been 2 billing cycles and my bill is still $35. I guess they don't really check what modem I use?

I logged in today and got a message stating i need a new modem and need to upgrade. It was optional but i took it. A new order was placed but they kept the same $25 price point.

Anyone know what new modem XFINITY will be shipping?

TIA

Anyone was asked to pay a $100 professional installation fee when checking out online? I couldn't skip it.

Is unlimited data still active when using your own modem?
