I think you just need some longer screws. The door handle opener pin is pretty long, I don't think you need fully insert to the door knob
No, it couldn't help, because that metal shift that goes from inside knob couldn't reach inner part of door handle. So when you press that metal tongue it just won't open door.

Bought one and love it. Good flat black color and yes you door have to drill through the door for the bottom piece to secure. They give you a nice cap to cover the screw on the inside of the door. Love it and looks great such a steal. Can't speak to the longevity of it though. Time will tell if the paint lasts.

Looking to for something like this but keep the privacy door handle that I already have to match the rest of the house. Anyone know if I can mix and match and use the current door handle that I have instead of the door knob that comes with this?

I bought the castle model about 3 weeks ago. Installation was pretty easy. The quality is pretty good for 20$. The handles feel a bit hollow compared to the pricier one but like I mentioned for the money I highly recommend it.

Hard to say without actually seeing the insides of each, but typically (typically) the inside handle of a lockset is pretty standard and should work. But unless someone here has actually tried that (which I think is a good idea), you may only know by trying yourself. If you do, please let me know how it worked.

Was trying to install that exact door handle last weekend at my friend's house. The house was built in 1926 and entry door thickness is 52mm, however this handle made for doors from 35 to 45 mm thick. I wasted time trying to get two parts connected together but only when read instruction I found out it just won't fit that thick door. Unfortunately I had to put it back in box.

Friends who's competent in installing such things what would you suggest: should we ask in a store for door handle that would fit this door or there's other options to get it fit and working?

Appreciate in advance for any decent ideas.
A few manufacturers (Kwikset, Baldwin, Schlage) sell "extension" kits for extra thick doors. I think Defiant is a Schlage brand, so you might be able to use one of their kits.

Kwikset kit for reference: https://a.co/d/gGfWhnP

And more info on manufacturers who make kits or hardware for thicker doors: https://www.directdoorhardware.co...hick-Doors

These kits aren't typically sold in home centers so you'll either have to find a compatible kit/handleset online, or special order a handleset that accommodates that thickness. If you have a locksmith in your area, they may also be able to install or fabricate a kit for you.

I think I saw these for about $8 at my local HD last week. It was Defiant brand and extremely similar style handle if not the same. When I picked up the box to check the handle out, the box was extremely light. I don't know the build quality as I've not had any experience with this brand, but I decided that even at that price, it felt cheap. I realize it's only for entry and has no locking (to be used with a deadbolt), but I'll take security and go with a more proven brand.

Correct, I just had to do a small (3 mm?) hole using my drill. It was not even a straight one between the outer and inner faces of the door. But it worked!

Ironic name? Vancouver, BC now requires all public doors to have lever handles for accessibility and raptors.

My order arrived today. We're very happy with the quality. The handles are heavy and will look nice on our new doors being installed next month. Because of the price, I bought 2, hoping the second one can be installed as a dummy on the stationary door (we have double front entry doors). I also bought the Kwikset Halo Touch deadbolt smart lock and the finish & color are so close I don't think anyone will know they came from different manufacturers. I only wish that the interior handset on these came with the square escutcheon instead of the round, but at this price I saved so much money I'll overlook that. Thanks OP.
