I noticed this laptop dims the screen brightness (in the corners especially) when switching from AC power to battery power.

Can any else confirm this is normal behavior?

You can turn this setting off. It is to preserve long term battery life. I keep it on

I bought this(NEW) on Tuesday (3/14) to be picked up at the 333 Preston Road Frisco store. I went to pick it up today (Friday 3/17). For some reason I thought of unboxing it there and when I tried to turn it on, it didn't. So, I went to the Geek Squad and they plugged in the power and still the laptop couldn't turn on. The keyboard lights were on but the display didn't turn on.

Some more observations: The SD card slot had its pins not laid out correctly. They were sort of "pressed".

So, I took it with me and will come back later for an exchange. Hopefully it works Smilie

or else I will have to return it. Sad thing is I used few gift cards to purchase and even if i return the laptop, some amount will go back to the gift cards.

Did anybody had this experience with a NEW laptop of this model?

I ended up buying 2. Haven't opened the second one for myself yet but wife's has the left speaker much lower volume than the right. Played with all manner of settings and disable/enable in device manager and will try one last time tonight to play in the bios but otherwise I need an exchange straight away.

I made a slow-mo video demonstrating the 240hz PWM that this OLED display uses. On the left is a typical LCD display laptop (Sager NP8358), on the right is this Asus ZenBook Flip OLED. Both at max brightness. Many people report eye strain and headache/nausea from the strobing PWM of the OLED. Even the keyboard backlight is strobing.
