Wow, thanks for this. It's got great reviews (site curated im sure) but at $60, I'll take that risk.

I wish the less expensive standing desk legs went down lower. When I was flirting with getting a standing desk, I was disappointed by how "high" the minimum height was.

The desk I'm sitting at currently is 25" from floor to underside of the desk - these desk legs have a minimum height of 28" - 3" difference is easy enough to accommodate by moving my chair seat higher. But then my legs and weight are no longer truly neutral on the seat so I don't have extra pressure between my legs and the front edge of the seat.
5'11" - so I wouldn't normally expect to have fit issues for things like desks and chairs.

The choice I found was either to spend a lot more and get a 3-stage standing desk that can totally fit me both sitting and standing, or just commit to using it primarily standing such that I'm willing to compromise on the ergonomics of the seated position.

Yep.. 3 stage is needed to get really good range and that isn't something many figure out without doing more research and measurements. I spent a lot more for main desk to get larger range. A cheaper option can be done by putting feet on riser and adjusting seat higher. That said, have a powered (with memory) Flexispot used for other projects and they are one of the best options for cheaper sit/stand desks.

Earlier today they sold the powerful electric dual motor E8 frame for just $100 and it sold out (frame only was $100 and the table top was $100)

Sounds like a missed opportunity. If we still had an office, we'd be betting on crank races.

It is easy to crank, it just took a ton of rotations to move up 1'.

I'm getting: "We encountered a problem with your checkout. The provided checkout total is invalid. Please contact the merchant to complete your purchase." when trying to check out with this coupon.

EDIT: didn't work multiple times, but just went back and tried again and it worked. Who knows.

Picked one up for the workshop. Nice piece of butcher block for top and it's a W! Pretty easy to make an adapter to put on your drill too if you're really into raising and lowering it often.
