For $40 difference, I would say go with this one. 2x endurance, DRAM, TLC, low temps, faster speeds.

Buy 2 or more if you need to. Arguably the best Gen 3 nvme out there for laptops and even desktops.

Great drive. Bought in Sept 2022 for $160. This is a no brainer IMO and by all measurements better than the 970 Evo +.

Would also make a great external drive.

While not gen 4 this is still an excellent price for an excellent drive. Have one installed on my laptop, runs noticeably cooler than stock.

I paid $170 for mine back in December… and I thought that was a good deal, this is a buy now think later kinda price!

Been awhile since I looked into the SSD market since I built my PC. Consensus was PCIE4 still has no need if you're mostly gaming, streaming, watching videos, etc.

Has this changed? Looks like according to reddit no, but I've seen PCIE3 drives coming down on price a lot lately on SD.

How about this vs crucial p5 plus 2tb nvme with or without heatsink?

There is a firmware update to get it to work with Macs. You will need a PC to run it though. A good NVMe.

Hard to recommend when SN850X has been in same price area lately.
Isn't that for the 1TB? 2TB seems to float at $165-200

Edit - NVM, searched wrong

How does this compare to the Crucial P5 Plus for $123 ?

P5 Plus is better.

And yes pcie4 is backwards compatible with pcie3.

What? There was a price mistake but its $160 right now. When has it been less than was not a short lived mistake???

I say that as someone who ordered one that will be here tomorrow. Smilie

I have a 512 in my Desktop and a 1gig in my Lenovo 5 pro lappy for the last year. I couldn't be happier. Lappy runs cool and both are at the top of benchmarks. They even beat quite a few Gen4 sticks. I have been waiting on a prices to drop to upgrade my Desktop to 2gb. Time has come Wink Just read the reviews. Gen 4 use more energy and run much hotter, plus 99% of us on here couldn't tell the difference. In my opinion, You will be upgrading your system before you would ever see a difference in speed Wink

One of the best Gen3 drives. Good price but if you know you don't need the extra speed, the 2TB 670p at $80 is a better deal.

Is there an easy way to pricematch? Just bought last week at 145. Or should I rebuy/return?

Honestly, this is a great gaming drive for PC. It's fast enough, runs cool, and is at a great price.

I still don't understand why PS5 needs 5000 MB/s transfer rate, it doesn't load 2 times faster than Steam games.

WD Black M.2 runs hella hard and is prone to issues due to overheating. You don't need WD Black level performance for PC gaming.

Way too much hand wringing over specs, speed etc if you're a non-power user or don't have specific use cases that have an emphasis on endurance or speed (video editing etc). For general gaming, regular workstation use, the "performance" difference is near nil in real world use. If you're this type of user the $80 Intel is fine

yup...I bought last week for $145...already installed. not worth the trouble. If you haven't used yours yet, just return and buy again if you want to save $25 smackers. amazon don't price match from recollection.

also bought a WD SN750 2TB on the Office Depot deal....nett $115 or so...after gas card. N/a anymore I think...only SN770 now -- which drops off in performance on big transfers. SN750 is one of the best Gen3 drives I think for consistent performance. Now I have the trifecta of Gen 3 2TB...Samsung 970 Evo Plus, Sk Hynix Gold, and WD SN750.

brand diversification in case of mfg issues...

Some external enclosures have issues with SK Hynix. WD is better bet for external enclosures generally speaking from what i've read. See Ankmax/Acasis.

Buy now or wait until Black Friday for it to go possibly lower?

This is one of the best, if not the best NVMe SSD for laptop.
