I own one already, but will be forwarding this slickdeal to my friend (who's been waiting for a sale/price-drop)

2 negatives on the Deck after owning one for about a year.
(1 fixable, 1 not):
1. mSD cards get extremely hot in the Valve Steam Deck. On Reddit, it seems to be known to kill microSD cards. I got ahead of this problem and put some adhesive thermal-spreader (meant for NVMe drives) on my mSD card. It absolutely is working to keep my mSD card cooler.

2. The Bluetooth (and WiFi) radios chosen by Valve are 100% 'cost-motivated'. In few words: They both suck, and they're soldered-on.
Honestly though, I've only had uncorrectable problems with the BT radio. It does not play well with old BT peripherals, and will be interfered with by The Deck's own USB. (TBF, the hub I'm using may be 'noisier' than a better or 1st party 'dock')

Those who own the deck, would you take it on an international trip with you or it's bit too big for that.
My SteamDeck enjoyed a nice trip to the Philippines this past October. Playing Elden Ring while swinging in a hammock next to a river was incredibly relaxing... during downtime on vacation of course.

All right I got a question: if I rarely leave the house, is it better to play on my pc + TV, or on the steam deck?
I don't have a deck, but in my opinion, pc+tv is much better. The kb/m, the bigger screen, for some things.

Honestly if I were traveling internationally, I'd want to take in the sights and not spend all my time playing games on the deck. But there's nothing stopping you. It's big but it comes with a handy case and can fit in a backpack pretty easily.
I travelled internationally for 120 days this year. 90 this year. You can't keep going without breaks..plus, airplanes and other transport.

Just wanted to add to the 64gb version comments.

Only consider 64gb if you plan on doing a hard drive upgrade. I tried to make it work with 64gb relying mostly on heavy SD card use, but quickly ran out of space fiddling around with system tools, compatibility files, and other miscellaneous files.

I think I only upgraded to 256gb as that was most cost effective for me at the time. And it's been working great.

Steam Deck has been one of the best gaming purchases in a long time.

Any opinions on the Premium anti-glare etched glass screen on the top model?

Will try to look up a comparison on it.

Just following up to say that I purchased my Steam Deck 3/14 and emailed Valve about a price match. They said they don't do refunds or price matches but offered me the difference in steam wallet which was good enough for me.

Great deal especially for the 64GB model. I just purchased one on 3/14 so I emailed Valve asking to honor the price difference
I didn't get a credit card refund but they did provide steam credits, so that's pretty cool

I've been eyeing the Steam Deck for a while so this was the perfect opportunity to pick one up. For those asking about SSDs and microSDs, here is what I ended up getting after purchasing the 64GB model:

Western Digital SN740 NVMe SSD (2TB) - came to around $190 with tax (https://m.aliexpress.us/item/3256..._shipto=US)

SanDisk Extreme microSD (1TB) - came to around $105 with tax (https://www.newegg.com/sandisk-1t...cation-USA)

3TB might be overkill, especially for my use case, however I felt as though the prices were too good to pass up, especially for 1TB vs 2TB SSDs.

For those interested in skins, I came across EasySkinz which is having a pretty dope sale at the moment (https://us.easyskinz.com/collections/steam-deck)

Next step for me is figuring out if I need a case and if so, deciding between the dbrand killswitch and the jsaux modcase. Still on the fence about the deckmate as well since it depends which of the former cases I end up going with.

I had the 512gb model before I sold it to a buddy and bought the 64gb model. I didnt think the anti glare screen was worth it. Although it helps, glare was still an issue. As for the brightness and color. I didnt see any significant differences. Another reason you have to consider. if you are going to put a screen protector on it. it totally defeat the purpose of the anti glare on it. So I would only focus on the storage when you want to decide on which model to get. I choose 64gb and swap to a 512gb ssd

Was going to make a remark about needing an internet connection to play the Steam Deck, but to my pleasant surprise, I just learned there's an Offline Mode.
The Steam Deck doesn't care if you are connected but some games demand the ability to phone home. Same with PS5, Xbox, and even some Switch games.
