Based off of multiple dell support threads, update your BIOS before attempting to install the OS on a NVME drive.
Also might need to change from RAID to ACHI to install on NVME. See example thread:

however, yes intel was very lazy during that time, and ryzen just leapfrogged them.
But AMD is partly to blame for its awful Bulldozer microarchitecture that made it nearly irrelevant in desktops until Zen/Ryzen came out. Core counts were effectively fake, leading to a class-action lawsuit, clock speeds and power use were pushed high to little effect, and they didn't bother releasing high-end FX CPUs based on Steamroller and Excavator.
Without effective competition, greed takes over.

I'd buy the machine again in second if it didn't have this problem. But I've already spent enough time trying to diagnose this that I'm not willing to roll the dice again. Regardless, I appreciate your interest.

the sff is what makes these. much better than a bulky full size machine for a security camera pc or 2nd room pc etc.
i have the guts of my old desktop i was thinking of refurbishing, but you quickly get into diminishing returns. it has a dusty old dirty case and power supply that would be more trouble than it's worth to clean (particularly power supplies are impossible to deep clean internally), and cost easily $150 to replace with nice quality new ones. and you'd still be looking at a bulky full size machine, a sff build would require a new motherboard, more expensive case etc. plus, it doesnt have a copy of windows, so probably 30 dollars for a gray market copy too. plus it needs a new 8GB stick of ram at absolute minimum.
for x86 passmark is my go to benchmark and this is more than fine, scores 5600, which is mainly because it's only 4 threads. the far more important single core performance is similar to my ryzen 5 2600 in my main desktop which i feel no urge to upgrade (main difference is my Ryzen scores 13k, mostly because it's 12 threads). will be moooore than plenty for a light duty pc.
as others have said tossing a ssd in here would be great. i think i have a few spares laying around. if not 20 bucks would fix it (since i use my pc's mostly like cloud machines even a 256 ssd would be fine)
