The Teeho works great, 6 months and still on the same set of rechargeable batteries (even though it tells you not to use rechargeable) with 6 finger prints programmed with daily use and never a problem. Also since it lacks wifi and bluetooth its a lot more secure than competitors smart locks.

As for those worried about security they have the correct ANSI standard level of security for home use which even some Kwikset locks dont have so yeah...... Unless you are buying high security locks and then also spending a fortune on reinforcement it does not really matter when it comes to home locks.

Your Kwikset and schlages are probably made in the same Chinese factories when it comes to the same psychical cylinders.

So in short the Teeho is a way better deal if you want fingerprint which was one of my main requirements, I liked it so much we own two of them now.

The black model is on sale for $48.99 on Amazon

i have nearly the exact same schlage version of this, and i hate how it eats up batteries even when you barely use it, you really cant rely on using the electronic code at all in case the batteries are dead

It's hard to say how long ours last because we moved a few times, but we've had our current set of batteries for over a year and they're still working.

I love this lock installed it like 6 months ago. Simple.. no iot BS.. just type a code and walk in the house. I dont have to carry keys anymore. High quality and a great price.
It's best to still carry a key in case of dead batteries or electronics failure, unless you have another way of getting into the house.

I have this and it has a design flaw. The silicone buttons press against a pcb board, which presses against a silicone backing. This backing is squishy and over time the button presses stop registering.
Are you sure the failure is caused by the silicone backing? I'm asking because the usual cause of this type of failure is from the contact point inside the button itself develops a thin layer of oxidation over time that eventually causes it to no longer pass electricity. We used to see this often in the buttons of remote controls, but they seem to last much longer now, Logitech mouse buttons often have this issue too. Some people, though I've never tried it, is soak the button in rubbing alcohol (such as from any drug store or Walmart) and some people have reported this to restore the button's functionality. Electrical contact cleaner might work better, not sure, but be sure to get the type that doesn't melt plastics.

In my case the contacts were clean, but I'm aware of that issue. That's the first thing I checked. One workaround is to only use the center buttons for your code. There's better backing support around those buttons.

You buy smartlocks for convenience, NOT for security. If you ever find yourself believing the brand/quality/features of your lock are correlated to your safety in a meaningful way, you are woefully misinformed. Chat with a veteran of your local LEA - years of anecdotes from my officer sibling have set me straight on this topic.

If that happens I used another door. Hardly any of us only have only one door with electric door lock any more.

I have the smartkey version and I like it but why is nobody putting old school crank generators instead of a key as a backup?
They can just put a small pull-out arm connected to crank that will power the lock. It's not a security issue, it's just providing power.

I mean a lot of them have USB power backup connections on the front but what if I get locked out just going for a jog? I'm not bringing a power bank with me.
I've managed a 4k hotel room card access system and power was always an issue (among other things).

One look at the lock picking lawyer on youtube proves keys are old technology that can be defeated easily. Especially the 2 year old video of him using a small camera on the key to determine the values for cutting a duplicate key. He made a duplicate key for a Kwikset smart key lock in 15min without breaking the lock!

In the market for a smart deadbolt, we have the ring alarm system (amazon, ecosystem) sucks how it seems like smart locks cost over 300 bucks..

Got this a few months ago. Installed on garage/outside door and it doesn't work in the cold. Tried fresh batteries and lithium batteries. New England weather.

lithium AA/AAA generally are great for high-drain devices, but not so great in the cold. I've found that the "Industrial" batteries (Energizer Industrial, Rayovac PRO) do fantastic with cold in my smartlocks, so far down to -20F. I do have storm doors in front of the locks though, so take that as you will.
