I have the version of this with smartkey on my parents beach house. Its great, works perfect. Held up to the salt air and everything, no complaints.

Bought one of these, the gears would slip and spring would wind out of position causing the deadbolt to shoot out and act as a spring loaded plunger. Switched to a basic Schlage.

I have this one, jammed up once in a while (some people report that too). Already took that out and make sure everything lined up smoothly. Not a fair comparison with a Schlage but my Schlage one works flawlessly. You get what you pay for.

No smartkey just allows rekeying. There is not a "smart" as in internet connection on these. That feature is available on other locks. However these usually do have an auto lock feature and you can program single use codes.

kwikset has a line called Halo that should do what you are asking. there is also Level and August locks usually about $150-200

Mine failed this way as well.. Fixed it and it worked for 2-3 months before it failed again and this is on a garage door that doesn't get used much. The really old Kwikset on the front door is ugly but still works flawlessly. I went with the Chinese fingerprint SD some brand that started with "T"

I'd fix it and it would fail regularly in the same time frame.

If someone wants an even better deal and can go without a warranty then homedepot returns are a available on ebay.

Avoid this— we didn't get any heads up that the battery was dying and ended up locked out of our house for hours. There's no emergency fail safe to get back in if you don't carry the key, which kinda makes the point of the keypad useless because you have to have the key with you. Lost $300 on a locksmith

Try this brand Yolink. Have their deadbolt working good so far, still haven't change battery yet ( almost a year ) They also have a lot of sensors for smart home and monitoring .
