This seems like a pretty great price for this but I am fairly certain this is the system Linus from LTT has had significant issues interference and syncing issues.

If you can get by those issues he seemed pretty genuinely impressed with the "atmos" this produced.

This!

i almost bought this, but the wifi connection problems steered me away. I bought the flagship samsung soundbar and have been very happy.

Yah I'm a proponent of and user of a discrete speaker 5.1.2 system but recognize that isn't the solutions for everything.

It seems like Samsung really worked some magic from a sound perspective but they need to iron out the connection problems

The room correction behind the Sony was what really interested me.....but if you have to reconnect the speakers every time you use itnreally negates that.
I've never had Samsungs rear wifi speakers disconnect.

I don't think you have to reconnect them every time but it seemed like they were causing or suffering from interference with wifi and it was causing intermittent problems

When I was shopping for this, I read a bunch about frequent disconnects.
Maybe it's been remedied since late last year.

I have the older Samsung Q950A that the newer model builds upon. Sound quality is great for my needs. It worked great for a year until 1 month after the 1 year warranty expired, the main PCB board quit on me. I couldn't believe that a $1000+ system barely made it through the 1 year warranty. I had to beg for them to be understanding how frustrating the situation was, but the CS representative did eventually agree how much the situation sucked. The Samsung smart things app is buggy at times. Had a couple times where the soundbar would not connect to the app and I had to reconnect but it was a headache that required hours of troubleshooting. Anyone thinking about dropping big money on a flagship soundbar should look into how their company provides customer support. From my experience, with soundbars, I would think twice on systems that are dependent on apps. https://community.smartthings.com...ngs/231407

Have 990b and hta9 last year. Didn't have any connection issues ever with either.

Keep in mind ANY wifi AV system can give you problems. It is very specific to your settings and if you're blaming any one system, then stick to wires. Ultimately LTT problem was his microwave oven interfering Fwiw

Having said that, I prefer 990b, but did have fun with hta9. If you have an odd layout, and traditional soundbar isn't ideal for you, you will thoroughly enjoy Sony! However for music listening, i didn't care for it whereas Samsung is excellent.

Those early disconnect are long fixed. It's nearly 2 years old already and Sony has fixed the bugs. Of course, wifi will be wifi, and can cause issues which isn't specific to Sony or any brand.

I've had this since launch and only had a couple issues early on. Since then it has been amazing. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

Better to wait for the version 2.0, this is plagued with lot of audio drops. I will avoid even at this price.

That was one issue, it was actually his wifi setup which admittedly is more of an enterprise system not a home setup.

Is anyone familiar with how the Buydig cashback work? It says 6%. I assume you have to sign up at Buydig to earn it. Also (1) Does this cashback work only for (a) Buydig store credit for future purchases or (b) They send you a PrePaid VISA card or (c) Your credit card will get back 6% of purchase price of this system. (2) Since we have a "NYE" coupon involve, is the 6% cashback still valid. Thanks.
