Been using it for 7 months now and happy with the Onkyo. Actually tested the Yamaha TSR700 and Denon S760H too, but this sounded best of all.

No HDR10+ support? If you have a Samsung television and use the newest AppleTV streaming box then this is a feature you probably want to have.

edit: I'm wrong. carry on

I have this one and wouldn't buy it again. I am about to return it to the store. Had it over 6 months, the inputs are whack they go blank and first I thought it was the cable - I replaced the cables (multiple brands) and tried it on a different tv and still same issue.

eARC is just intermittent, you have to turn off the entire system and then turn devices on one by one.

Worst is when you turn on gaming (tried PS5 and Xbox X) consoles, it will act stupid.

Chatted with Costco few days ago and they said to bring it in for a refund.

Thinking about picking up a Denon.
I have the Denon 760 and I love it.I got it for $350 on sale but it normally goes on sale for $399.

Does Costco price match on previous purchases? I bought this from Costco for $450 3 weeks ago.

Costco will price match if it is in the return period. You need to go in the store with the receipt (or they can look it up) and they will refund the difference. It has to be on sale at the time you go in for the price match.

Running an LG C2 and currently a 2016 Sony STR DN 1060 receiver. Trying to decide if this would be a worthwhile upgrade. My speakers don't support ATMOS, and my TV is all set on HDMI 2.1 inputs.

It's currently OOS - but yes, this is the Costco returns deal that comes and goes.

Does anyone know if the USA version can be flashed to European firmware?

The USA's "Zone 2/B" RCA line-out is a true line-out to be used with an integrated amplifier (IE another receiver). In other words output voltage doesn't change with volume control on the Onkyo - you would use the volume control on the connected zone 2/B integrated amplifier/receiver.

In Europe and Asian locals, that RCA output is labeled "pre-out" and has a software toggle allowing it to be used as line-out OR pre-out with a powered amplifier (turning the Onkyo into a pre-amp for the front stage, which is exactly what I want to do).

Hardware-wise I'm thinking they're identical, so curious if anyone has flashed it..

Extremely annoying that they pulled this feature from the USA version of the 6100/6050. Ruins it for many of us using separate amplifiers.

I agree 100%. I spent a month with each one and came to the same conclusion. Music sounded good on all of them but movie soundtracks were a different story. I still feel like my older Yamaha sounds better than the Onkyo.

How's the sound quality for music? I have a Denon and it's good for movies, but not the best for music
I'm doubtful that Denon is bad for music. Have you tried listening to on Pure Direct. This essentially turns this into an Amp. If your music still sounds bad, you may need new speakers or a better source of music.

I don't like it because I don't like the name "Onkyo"

This unit is way better than the HDMI 2.1 Denon. I had the Denon for a few months. It wasn't bad but it struggles to drive 7 speakers. Also it had minor occasional bugs. I got the Onkyo and have been glad I shifted over. The Onkyo sounds way better, it's not crazy powerful but definitely has much more headroom than the Denon. And it has tons extra of features. It isn't a perfect receiver but it's better than the other two alternatives at Costco. The Yamaha may be a good receiver, but it has much lower bandwidth (24Gbps I believe). Also. initially it was known to be very buggy but I suppose that might have been sorted out by now. Anyway, the Onkyo has been rock solid for a year now. I have minor gripes with some decisions they took. But no issues in usage at all.

If you are deciding between the Denon and this Onkyo definitely go for this one.
