On the Q&A the company says that the side shelves should be used for structural support. As my parents have a small patio I might try to rig up something so I don't have to use the side shelves.

How do you get it super hot. I've used a treager grill before and even on full blast it doesn't get that hot to intensely sear the meats.
At least no where near what I can get from a lump charcoal.
