if we leave 1 in our car it will become a free tracker for life? or accidentally left under the seat of your nextdoors vehicle?

FYI, AirTag does not work in some countries:

Argentina
Armenia
Azerbaijan
Belarus
Indonesia
Kazakhstan
Kyrgyzstan
Nepal
Pakistan
Paraguay
Russia
Solomon Islands
Tajikistan
Turkmenistan
Ukraine
Uzbekistan

The above list may be a bit outdated since it is froman article [macrumors.com] from 2021. But considering that the issue is due to not supporting wideband, there's a high chance that the issue still exists.

Also some countries like South Korea technically does not allow AirTags either. Their regulation on GPS and maps are more strict (perhaps, stalking issue?). So you will not be able to track your AirTags using maps (aka via other people's phone). They only allow you to track your AirTags if they are nearby your phone.

For life meaning you have to change batteries but yes, the idea is right. I have one in my car and its very convenient. The most use I get out of it when I cant find my card in big mall parking lots. I also removed the internal speaker to make it quiet.
