I've not tried these, but Scotch quality has been abysmal for a long time: I currently have two Scotch blue sponges in circulation at my kitchen sink ... chunks come off easily, they degrade rapidly, and the pad delaminates from the sponge in no time. It's nothing more than a well known brand name with a deep reputation emblazoned on a very low quality product. It never ceases to amaze me at how quickly they degrade.

Check out O-Cedar Scrunge for a a more durable sponge which also has a more effective non-scratch 'abrasive' side (at least initially, it will wear down in time). They're more expensive than Scotch brand. Disclaimer: it's been a while since I've used them (and too many manufacturers routinely cheapen their products while charging the same - or more - in order to make a few more pennies profit).

Should have clarified; the scrub daddy is interesting because its so different from regular sponges. It's not quite as absorbent, which means it tends to not retain as much of the grease and grime, but it's a looser structure, so it tends to hold the detergent better. It's also a bit firmer and less prone to felting than the usual scrubber side of sponges.
That being said... I've used scotch for years and I just replace them frequently when I notice them wearing out. The ones no longer fit for dish service become the ones I use to scrub down the sink and range, and so forth. Just be on top of that and there shouldn't be many issues.
I've done a lot of dishwashing (old world household) and hate it, and have tried to make as many things as I can dishwasher safe, but I still have to handwash a good amount (the occasional non-stick pan, my cast iron and carbon steel stuff, and of course, my knives). So the sponge still sees a lot of use.

in conjunction with the skoy pads

put the scrub pad under the skoy to scour my cast iron or other pans, then soap and wipe dry with the skoy. The skoy rinsed out, removes water so better than sponge or any other dishcloth on cookware and countertops that no towels are needed.
The combo is more effective and lasts a lot longer than sponges.
problem is it will also speed the deterioration of the sponge
