The concern is with pests that hitch a ride on the plants across state lines. California has significant agricultural exports: Grapes — $5.23 billion, Almonds — $5.03 billion, so laws don't allow shipping plants in from out of state.

You know it's funny, people really don't realize how those laws in California have changed products all over the country to be made of safer materials. A lot of manufacturers don't want to put those labels on their products in California, so they reformulate so they don't have to. This actually improves the quality across the country of those products.

Anyway I get the joke. But I really do wonder if people appreciate the reality.

Yes they are toxic to pets, but my animals don't really chew on the leaves. Now I have it outside in my patio because it really need some "bright indirect light" and it was not doing well in the living room...But I got my FLF from Costa Farms on amazon last year in July, it was like 30" tall. Now it is 6ft. I didn't really chip off the leaves on the bottom because I know if I don't like the look they will never grow back. lol.

I think the sign at Disneyland saying Disneyland causes cancer tells me everything I need to know about the idiocy of prop 65. Is your argument that if companies change their formulation to avoid having to put prop 65 warnings on their products, even if the original formulation is not scientifically shown to pose any real threat to health, that is a good thing?

So removing a harmless ingredient to avoid a stupid law that would require a warning label is good how? You know Disneyland has a sign at the entrance saying that Disneyland may cause cancer, right?

It's crazy how much smarter California is to be able to dictate rules the rest of the US has to adhere to
Sorry. That's capitalism. California has an economy the size of France, so U.S manufacturers are going to make products that can be sold there, not just in Idaho. You must be one of those commie socialists....lol

I don't know why it took you two replies to make your "point". I won't even discuss the logic of a single unintended consequence invalidating the point of a law, which is a laughable statement. For the other "harmless" ingredient, I'm not interested in ingesting cancer-causing chemicals even at estimated safe doses if I don't need to. Are you seriously arguing that you'd prefer coke kept the cancer causing ingredient because it's probably safe at lower dosages? Ugh. I'm over you trolls. We get it. You hate California. There's no logic to be found in these replies on this topic. I tried.

Info on this plant:

And to those that asked, no this plant more than likely will not produce fruit (i.e. figs). Flower and fruit production only occurs if the plant is allowed to grow in its natural habitat (i.e. humid locations like its natural habitat in Africa).

Just received mine, it's barely 9" from the bottom up. Absolutely not 16". Will still kept it since it's a very beautiful little guy.

What's sad is that it's not funny at all. The fact that so many here in this country have this attitude is the very reason so many corporations sell food and other products in this country that are filled with carcinogens but sell the same products in other countries without the carcinogens because those countries have regulations similar to those in California.

I'm not trying to start an argument but hope those who make jokes about corporations being able to sell things that they know cause cancer will think about why that is the case.
Please stop comparing things other countries do to what the US does as some sort of barometer. People try to use the same logic to ban GMOs in the US because the EU has no damn clue on the history or science behind them and is operating solely on fear tactics, just like many opponents of them in the US do, as well.

Just received mine. It's cute and looks healthy. I changed soil immediately, it seemed root bound but in reality just packed tight. I'm sure its happier to be allowed to breathe.

Anyways I actually got two plants. When I was changing soil i realized someone just planted two plants into one pot. So pretty great deal for me. No bugs that I saw. Very happy with this.
