Had this. Va panel not bright and hated how it looked. Sold both of them just personal opinion. Had them next to IPS panels and it was night and day

Every monitor with the grey rectangle Samsung logo (I have bought like 10 of them) come with the eco solution turned on which severely limits the brightness. The web is filled with complaints about these models and their brightness. Fixing it is as easy as changing one setting under "System" menu.

Yea I modified it in the osd. I thought you may be referring to that. I spent days going through the osd trying all sorts of things. Honestly if I didn't have them sitting next to an LG IPS panel they probably would have looked ok. The color pop just was not there event though the blacks were good.

I also notice that I have to tinker with the models to get them into 10 bit color. There was a huge difference on my 32" ViewFinity S7 (no HAS stand)

Very sneaky from Samsung to offer 27" version of S80A with an IPS panel (I have that model and it is definitely an IPS display) and switch it out for VA in the 32" variant.

All the IPS version I have gotten from 2021 and 2022 have been nothing but trouble with the exception of the 27 S80UA (usb type c). Tons of bleeding and IPS glow from others.....I prefer the VA panels but work at home and don't have the need to use off-axis very often.

After using IPS screens for many many years, I'm actually enjoying the VA screen (M7). Love the increased contrast, although it's a bit lacking compared to my 14" MBP. As long as I'm using it head on, I'm good.

Yeah that's the thing with VA just like OLED looks best without multi monitor setup and straight on so if that is your use case go for it.

They not the only one's to do it. Vizio TV I got came with IPS panel even though others got VA for same TV like Rtings when they reviewed it. It's called panel lottery for a reason but I prefer the better colors of IPS than VA so I kept it.

Panel lottery refers to the quality or maker of the panel. It does not refer to "accidentally" getting an IPS screen when you were expecting a VA or vice versa. What you are describing is when a brand may intentionally switch panel types between sizes of a model.
