I bought a couple of these the last time this deal was posted and they work great. I plugged them into a couple of Logitech USB extensions and turned them into desktop models, a lot cheaper then the $79 desktop model they are selling! The setup is so easy on Win10 that you don't know that the driver is installed until you go to the Windows Hello setup screen to set up the fingerprints. My main reason for wanting this is because there have been so many PW Manager breaches that I increased my PW to 20 characters, which is a pain to input all the time. Highly recommend it.

Three months from now, when you find out you've been compromised.

The OP's point is, Amazon is known to be sloppy when it comes to such things.

If you're buying something for security purposes, do you want to save $20-$50, or do you want to be safe?

The smarter money is on the latter.

They allow you to use this at work in place of entering passwords?

Same. Loving mine.

I recently changed jobs and purchased a new dedicated laptop for the job - which, surprisingly, didn't have a fingerprint reader. I'm also now running my Thinkpad X1 with the lid closed, which prevents me from using its built in reader.

I picked up 2 of these and it makes logging back in super fast and convenient - just like using the built in reader on my Thinkpad.

Definitely recommend.

Yes. You do have to install the desktop version for the browser extension though.

In for one; THX OP. I'm hoping to make logging into my PC easier without a password/PIN and for online accounts that require relatively high security like PayPal and EBay.

I'm using 2 factor authentications for them right now via the Google Authenticator App on my phone which is somewhat cumbersome and slow to use. Hopefully I can use the fingerprint reader to speed things up a bit and make logging in more convenient.

It's always nerve racking finding a Buy it Now deal on EBay and having to log into PayPal for payment via 2 Factor Authentication and wasting precious seconds that can cost me the bargain giving some other cheap basterd a chance to purchase laugh out loud

Thanks for the feedback/review; it's appreciated. I'm planning on using the USB jack on the back of my G710 Logitech Keyboard for the fingerprint reader.

That way I can quickly scan my fingerprint without taking any additional space on my desk. Just hope that I don't run into any funky incompatibility issues not connecting the fingerprint reader directly to an USB port on my PC...

Does Amazon still co-mingle their inventory in the same parts slot/bin with 3rd party sellers (shipped by Amazon)?

This used to be a huge problem as it was random.chance you actually got an Amazon sourced item Vs mixing in counterfeits. In this case a.comprised device could result in your data being stolen
