My gaming laptop is used for more than just gaming. 3D modeling, photoshop, etc.
The convenience of being able to just throw my laptop and charger in my backpack beats hauling my 20lb pc, monitor, keyboard, cables, etc. And that would require a full on suitcase to fit everything, never mind traveling with it securely.
There is no comparison. It's like comparing a landline phone to a cell phone.
Battery life kinda matters for me too, I like to stay unplugged as long as I can and not worry about "life cycles" I know all laptops have cycle counts.
