You actually don't have to trade anything in. You basically walk up to their signage and scan the QR code with the Target app. For Target app first time the users, you will have to create a profile. To bring up the coupon to use it's saved in your "Wallet" > "Saved Offers" of the Target app. Scan it during check out. This was not obvious when I did this last year. I kept scanning the QR code and there were no additional instructions on the signage.
Also one more tip is to create baby registry and new profile with bday that falls during the redemption time for another 15% plus 5% off

not sure if you can create wedding registry as well for additional 15%

generally they all stack together for atleast 40-50%. off .. else it ain't a slickdeal

I got all excited because I need a new car seat as my wife is due in the middle of April. Hopefully the baby can wait for us to make the trade, lol.

^ This. Done that a few times. There's usually a big box set up to put the old ones in with the code there. There's no check to know whether you put anything in the box. Not sure they really care since they're likely just going to be trashed anyway.

Yeah. I was excited to "recycle" my old car seat then went to the event last time and found out they don't even check. They actually had a printed barcode where people can just scan and get the 20%.

Does anyone know what select baby items are eligible? The wife thought it was a 20% off coupon for anything.. we've been holding onto the expired seat for this event.

Maybe boosters are eligible for purchase with the 20% off?

Boosters can be purchased with coupon. They will usually have a sale and it stacks with the coupon for additional savings. I have purchased several car seats and boosters this way.

We used our coupon two years ago towards a Stokke high chair. Worked with no issues.

Babies average 8 days late. Smilie
Send a link or I'm skeptical. Why wouldn't they change the estimation process if they average 8 days late? Our consistent kids were both 5 days early (I know you said "average"). Had a friend tell us something similar, still sounds made up. It's just an estimate.

Recycle? More like land fill. I saw the big box of "old" seats at a local Target. Most looked new. Definitely not 10 years old. That is the manufacturer cut off.

I asked if I could have one. They said no of course.

Do the world a favor and list your slightly used carseat on one of the many second hand sites. I usually put some symbolic $5 price on them and then just hand it over for free.

According to Google, "Car seats expire because the parts and materials used to keep your child safe gradually weaken or wear down after constant use and because of exposure to heat and cold."

Even if it's a marketing tactic to get people keep buying new baby car seats, in a serious car accident, most parents don't want to second guess that it was their fault for skimping for an old compromised seat that ultimately caused their precious little bundle(s) to have lifelong injuries and/or die.
