The belt is long (54") and you are expected to trim/cut the belt to your size. After trimming, the cut end of the leather clips into the buckle, semi-permanently, with a spikey(?) metal clip. Then you fasten it around yourself and use the ratcheting belt buckle for day-to-day fastening.

I say "semi-permanently" because I've had mixed experience with these trim-to-fit belts. Sometimes the leather slips out of the grippy/spikey metal clip when you're putting it on or taking it off. While wearing it, the tension holds it in place. sarcasmogratis posted an amazon link above that has a video showing the process.

I'm confused. These kinds of belts can always be found for about this price. How is this a deal? Has the price on these types of belts inflated? Is it because the company/brand is known to be better quality?

i like ratchet belts, but the mechanism seems to only last a couple years for me. i've had several different brands but they all break before long.
i've got old school leather belts that i've worn for over 20 years with now problems.

These are available at Menard's [menards.com] for about $8 each (after rebate). I've had a couple for quite some time and they're quite nice and durable.

Exactly. Decades ago, I got a real full-grain leather reversible dress belt made in Canada. It lasted 15 years. Current made-in-China crap will last maybe a year or two if you're lucky.

I have the black version of this belt. The gripper teeth on the buckle doesn't do a good job at actually gripping the belt. I constantly have to reattach the buckle to the belt.

I use them for travel.
Sheng Wang on Netflix comedy has a great bit on reversible belts. He says it's for dudes in that period of your life where you can afford 2 pants but only one belt. 😆

Hanks belts. Solid leather 30-50 bucks a piece. You won't have to buy another one. Just my 2 cents. Got tired of buying crappy belts.
