You are wrong on the battery life for this model, it is actually quite good (due to not having a discrete gpu, iris xe is indeed weak). Its a macbook air competitor not meant for gaming.

This is the base mode and there is another model with Arc A370M Graphics which was on sale couple of days back at $999 (Now around $1299). However, you can consider this more of a big screen Ultra portable and the battery life is pretty good for an Intel Laptop due to bigger battery, no dedicated GPU and Asus restricting the power to the CPU in Battery mode.

We have this same OLED screen in a Vivobook K6500 but it's rated at 600 nits, I wonder if the overlay film for the Touch drops it to 400nits?
That 600 nits is a Peak brightness in HDR and SDR brightness is same as 400 nits. This one has Pick brightness of 550-nits in HDR as well and the reduction is due to the Touch Layer.

Still use an 8th gen i7 model of this laptop in the spare office. No issues with light use. Good build quality.

Good deal. I still like my spectre 16, but to re do I would've got a different processor than the one here, it is really a power hog. No lie. Battery barely lasts 5 hours . Big battery too. Maybe better in this model

Gracias!

These screens are beautiful, once you use one it's really hard to go back to IPS laptops.

This comes in aluminum body, right? Is the body comparable in quality/feel with MacBook?

Metal yes. MacBook no. The screen is basically reversible so it feels different than a MacBook. Dell Xps is closer to MacBook. Still high quality though.

So for someone who does no games, would this model be better than the one with Arc370M? It's a $200 savings comparing to the beefier model that was on sale a few days ago.
If you do any kind of content creation (video editing, photoshop, etc) having a GPU is worth it and will make life easier. If not then maybe save the money.

I got the GPU version of this laptop for +$80, open-box from Best Buy.

Yeah I feel like the 12700H with integrated graphics is stuffed into too many thin/mainstream laptops that can't properly use it. For bigger/thicker gaming laptops it's great, but for anything else the battery life is relatively poor and there can be thermal throttling. Plus the integrated graphics (while better than past generations) still holds the CPU back a lot. I feel like they are trying to clear out stock but there are still too many 12700H laptops out there. This laptop with the newest AMD processor or the newest Intel U processor would be so much better. Atleast it has 16gb of ram, there was that laptop that showed up multiple times with 8gb of ram soldered.
I agree. This was one of the most powerful mobile CPU's and manufacturers thought including it would make their laptop "high-end." But the P-series or even the U-series would have likely been plenty of juice for these non-gaming laptops.

Interesting hardware combo. Ultrabook with an H proc and a really high end screen. The RAM situation is kind of meh and the brand isn't stellar but all in all I'd say this is a buy. H proc substantially outperforms U procs.

Stopped by Best Buy to compare LG Gram 16 2 in 1 vs Lenovo Yoga 7i 15.6'' vs this Asus Zenbook vs Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360.

LG Gram 16 is the lightest vs others. To be honest, all these laptops are not heavy.
For me, there are not much of differences in my use case as I don't carry the laptop in my hand the whole day.
In terms of built quality, I think Lenovo Yoga 7i and the Asus feel the best to me.
Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 feels OK but the laptop is pricy as of now.

Overall, I like the Asus Zenbook best due to the OLED screen. I think it has the best screen among these laptops and at usd799 it is a good value for the laptop.

Asus Zenbook is my choice after doing all the comparisons for my use case and the amount of money I want to spend (less than usd1000).

Has anyone tried this computer outside with direct sunlight? I need touch and outdoor brightness. If this can do it like a tablet, I might be in.

It's metal, but not sure the benefit. My kid's Zenbook OLED died in 9 months and the case is starting to separate in the back, though there's no apparent impact damage.

It's no Macbook, but they are still quite nice feeling.
