Will this work with coffee?
Personally, I would not use this for coffee, I would do a French press travel mug. This is what I use for coffee for the similar use case. https://www.walmart.com/ip/BODUM-.../863217229
I've owned a few of these over the past 10+ years and loved them.

BODUM Tea for One Black Tea Maker with 12 Ounce Double Wall Glass and Stainless Steel Tea Strainer
Don't give into the marketing. It's technically stainless steel because the mesh on the strainer is, but the rest of the strainer is plastic. So it is both.

I'm not a coffee expert but I've used something similar that's designed for tea for coffee. Does it pass a bunch of coffee grinds? You betcha. Is a French press better for coffee? Yup, much less crap in my cup. But french press that I have is huge and I don't always want to make that much coffee so I use something similar. Ymmv
Get an AeroPress or a Pour Over Cone.
I have both and gave my K-Cup Contraption away .

Is the strainer metal or plastic?
This actually is a good question because the description says "stainless steel" but when I looked at this model in the store it had a plastic mesh filter. It was the same model, same price. This deal popped up last month and I asked if anyone who received this by shipping got a version that actually had a stainless steel mesh, but no one confirmed this.

Again, did anyone receive a version of this with an actual stainless steel strainer?

Do you have this Bodum tea strainer? The versions I have seen, as well as the description on the Bodum web page do not mention stainless steel and the version I saw at Walmart did not have any stainless steel mesh either--it was entirely plastic. Are there two versions of this?

.This nifty little set is the perfect way to brew a single cuppa with maximum taste and zero waste. Crafted from BPA-free plastic, the tea strainer sits on the rim of your glass while the generous infuser fits inside, allowing the tea leaves space to unfurl and swirl freely.

There's a lot of pent up anger lately. We got drivers purposely hitting other drivers on the road.

I like Bodum, and I love the concept (I have another cup with a metal strainer), but the plastic strainer gives me pause...

Should I be worried about the plastic strainer and the high temperature?

I think it'll be up to your comfort zone. I think about this question every time I use my aeropress.

There are plastic products that can withstand high amount of heat (like aeropress) and science doesn't find any cancer-causing evidence, but does that mean it's absolutely 100% problem free? Science doesn't always find everything until better instrument or discovery made.

How does a French press press the water from coffee? The grounds are still in the water?

It should. Coffee tasters pour hot water over grounds in a cup to taste it.

Google how a French press works. It's not rocket science
