This has been discussed in some All-Clad deal threads over the past 6 months but I had not seen a dedicated post explaining the deal, and the deadline is approaching to submit a claim.

BACKGROUND

From 2015 - 2022, All-Clad advertised its D3, D5, and LTD pans as dishwasher safe. In fact, if you put these pans in the dishwasher with harsh detergents, over time the detergents can slowly eat away at the exposed middle aluminum layer. The result is that the edges of your pan lose their smooth finish.

THE SETTLEMENT

If you purchased any of these lines between 1/1/2015 and 7/29/2022, you may claim a settlement from All-Clad.
Even if you didn't receive a notice in the mail, or have your receipt, you may submit a claim here [multi-plycookwaresettlement.com].
Your choices are:
  1. If you have pieces that have developed "sharp edges," you have 3 choices to trade them in:
    1. All-Clad will replace those pieces and provide a payment of $75. If you purchased the (now discontinued) LTD line, they will be replaced with D3 pieces.
      OR
    2. You may opt instead to receive a free "dishwasher safe" cookware set -- either the Hard Anodized (HA1) 5-piece fry-pan set [all-clad.com] or the Essentials Hard Anodized Nonstick 13-piece cookware set [all-clad.com]. Both sets are aluminum pans with nonstick coatings. They are not the quality of D3 or D5 pans, and I wouldn't recommend the dishwasher for these, either. Also note that the Essentials line is not induction compatible.
      OR
    3. You may opt instead to receive a future purchase credit of 50% off purchases up to a total purchase of $1,200 (i.e., $600 value) for any products on All-Clad's website.
  2. If you've discarded your pieces, or if they have not developed "sharp edges," then you can provide a proof of purchase (such as order confirmation or credit card receipt) to receive a future purchase credit of 35% off purchases up to a total purchase of $750 (i.e., $262 value) for any products on All-Clad's website.
UPDATE: You must submit a separate claim form for each piece in your collection that you want to return or replace. It's a short online claim form, so this is easy.

The deadline to submit your claim is April 28, 2023
Note re timing: The original claim form states that claims will be reviewed and validated on a continuing, rolling basis. All Claim Forms will beprocessed after the ClaimsDeadline. Based on the original timeline, we can anticipate that vouchers will be sent out starting in May/June, and replacement Cookware could be sent out starting in August.

I bought a set of the 5 ply several years ago and all the non-stick is peeling off which makes them pretty much worthless. I'll stuck to the $30 Costco ceramic coated pans.

Good call. Throw that stuff away because it's dangerous. I would never buy expensive nonstick-coated cookware. Buy one cheap nonstick skillet like a Tramontina or Oxo and replace that every couple of years whether it's showing wear or not. The rest of your cookware should NOT be nonstick-coated.

I bought this 7 piece set from Macy's. https://www.macys.com/shop/produc...oryID=7552

Do I have to submit a claim for each of the pans, or just claim for the entire set?

I'd do 1 form for each of the 4 pans, just to be safe.

What's the difference between option 1.3 and option 2? Seems like it's the same thing, since you're not sending anything in, but option 2 offers less of a percentage discount?
Option 1.3 requires return. Option 2 is if you don't want to return. The description is clear on the settlement website. All the people here who are posting 1.3 as non-return are enjoying a blissful moment. They will wake up soon.

My D3 has noticeable grooves on the edges so I'm sending that in but my D5 seems ok but I know I've ran it through the dishwasher many times. Is anyone else sending in a pan without noticeable grooves/sharp edges?

Mine vary based on how much I used them. I barely noticed it until I bought a new pan in January and compared its shiny smooth polished edge to my older pans. If you put that D5 through the dishwasher repeatedly, it might be worn more than you realized.

Has anyone figured out how to make sure which pans and pots are included in this settlement? I have quite a few All-Clad Pans and Pots some definitely bought within the timeframe mentioned with D3 and D5 markings on the bottom and some that I'm not sure about the exact timeframe that are "3 layers" but have no markings...

Thanks!

If they are stainless inside and out, with an aluminum core, then that's D3.

If they have a stainless interior, but a brushed aluminum exterior with an aluminum core, than that's Master Chef, MC2, or LTD2, and those don't qualify.

My strategy has been to file a a claim for every pan that might qualify. It takes little effort. When the claim window has closed and we receive the final details about how to complete the claim, we'll know more and can hopefully figure out whether edge cases do or don't qualify.

My working assumption is that funds were already set aside for this settlement, and they've set up a claims administrator to make payouts go as smoothly as possible. After the claim deadline has passed, if the total estimated claims don't exceed the amount that's been set aside, then the claims administrator will just be instructed to process all the claims as efficiently and quickly as possible.

Thanks very helpful!

How do I differentiate brushed aluminum from stainless steel though? Big Grin Sorry ...

I filed a claim for most of my pans so far and looking at the FAQ, it seems I'll be getting labels for each one of those claims and then have to send those in after having chosen Option 1.1.

Thanks again!

Google search with the word "bottom" and you'll see they are all engraved accordingly with "Master Chef" or "MC2" on the bottom. LTD is dark-colored.

It just says LTD. I don't know much about LTD nonstick but does it have an exposed edge? If so, then it seems like it would be eligible.

Looks like it has to me, guess I'll see, they might just send back the original pan Smilie
