As annoying as it is for the Oasis to be the supposed flagship kindle device and yet not have a recent refresh, I guess I'll keep putting up with its micro-usb port and comparatively antiquated processor. That paperwhite *signature* has been tempting a couple of times, but, again, it's still more a gussied up midrange device than a premium one. I wonder if the Oasis is just in a peculiar class with too little demand for Amazon to do anything with.
If everything goes planed, here is the breakdown:
Paid $326+$26 tax=$352.
Should receive $75 gift card (from previous gen oasis) + $64 discount + $20 cashback from some site + $16 cashback from my amazon card = $175
Net is $177

If everything goes planed, here is the breakdown:

I saw someone say that this is easier to hold than the oasis, and I have to disagree. It's not even close for me, the oasis is way better. Not to mention the power button is on the side of the Scribe and depending on how you hold it, can get pressed on accident.
One thing that needs to be mentioned here, and why I'm not sold on the scribe, is that there is no native file format note taking on this device which is concerning for the future. If you dig a bit into the device, you will see the ONLY documents that are editable are KFX. PDF's come to the device as KFX (you can actually rename the kfx file .pdf and open it on the computer), but the notes are stored in a side car file. Also this means no side loaded books can be notated on (AZW3/MOBI).
Essentially this means that the whole device is only compatible with KFX editing and without a major architectural software update (highly unlikely), will not change. You can also not export notes from your notebook without having kindle branding on the note page which is frustrating if trying to share notes in a business setting.

This is the first gen and they will get lots of feedback for improvement.
