Ethernet is critical for business use. Printers have to be up 100%. CC terminals. VoIP phone lines, servers, etc. Wireless is fine for home use or wherever 100% up time is unnecessary, but not so in business.
Do a speed test comparing wifi vs LAN.
In my case, I have google fiber at home, getting 240Mbps on wifi and about 940Mbps on Ethernet using a cat5e cable connected to a 20$ switch.
That's a super good deal.... sadly I can't think of a single use for it in 2023... everything is wireless now. I guess some people might still need hardlines....
If you have a nas and you have fast switches then it's good for transferring local files from one computer to another . Especially if you have 2.5 or 10 gigabit switch .
It's crazy seeing people say that they can't see a use for it because Wifi exists. Ethernet is better in any metric for stationary devices that can use it. The fewer items using WiFi the less congested things are for the devices that need it. Speed is almost always going to be better (as noted above, unless you strap the device to the Wifi transmitter (router/repeater/access point/whatever), you are never going to see the giant numbers they print on the box. But you will time after time with wired.
That said, I also agree with everyone saying 50 feet with that rating cable and especially for PoE seems like you are riding the edge of realistic capability. I use some of this thin cables for 3-6' connections, but not sure I would go 50 or even 25 if it was something I wanted to work reliably.
That's not true. Most devices use gigabit ethernet ports. A newer mid-teir wifi router and a newer wifi card intel (ax200) will outperform gigabit ethernet in speeds.

All my speeds are more constant when I use an ethernet connected device. I have had similar speeds on Wifi, but most of the time there is a drop in speed during a large transfer. That is not to say Wifi is bad, but ethernet is just more reliable. I have 4 mesh routers in my network, all connected with an ethernet backhaul. When you have stone and cement walls, Wifi tends to drop with 1 wall in between a device and a router.

Sure you can. Just because the box says it doesn't mean it's realistic in most applications. If you are then your NAS is right on top of the router as I said already. You don't get consistent, repeatable, 1600mbps in anywhere but a lab environment in reality.
But I do get 5gbps between my Server and switch. Every time. Which blows away the wireless speed. I could put in 10 gig SFP+ and it wouldn't be any big thing. I also get 2.5 gig to my desktop two floors up, which you won't get with wireless.
So… no your example even if true isn't better. Maybe five years ago when 2.5 and 10 gig stuff was more expensive (10 gig is still up there).
