I purchased this laptop almost a month ago when I posted the deal, turns out the "new open box" standard isn't strictly enforced. After receiving the item I found there were cosmetic flaws (dings) to the metal body and it was obvious it was used prior.

Also the item I received was recertified from a company called Computerland and the 90 day warranty is through their company. Safe to say Woot accepted the return of the item for a full discount and they even offered $200 additional discount if I wanted to keep the item but I felt duped and just returned it.

All in all, I would say this is still a good deal for a good condition laptop but don't expect to get a new item!
I bet you have never been hit by a car before neither, do you still look around when you're crossing the street?
Meh.. gonna keep waiting for the 14 to hit 1300

I bought one for the same price at Microcenter. Someone returned it as "WiFi not work." They returned in that 15 day window. It was pretty much brand new when I checked the serial number.

I been very happy with the MacBook so this might be a similar thing. Someone probably just returned it under the return window

I got my 16 at Best Buy open box for this same price and it seemed brand new. Love the computer but really feel this is the right price for it instead of $2500. I've had really good luck with open box stuff but Woot is a safe place to buy from even if you do have to return it.

That looks like a good deal. Gonna continue to wait for the possible 15" MacBook Air announcement though.

Not happening, it went to $1549 at Costco and sold out last week within a few hours
Hey, so i still see it for our base online, did it really sold out? Or maybe it's just back in stock at Costco.com

My prior experience with "No Apple Warranty" was really bad. The Genius bar at the Apple store will not even touch this device as the serial number is ineligible for the paid service.
Great post.

These devices are good performers but it should be a red flag if you can't get.service by the manufacturer in the event of a problem.

Not sure why people are worried about warranties. I've purchased dozens of computers over the last twenty years and I've never had any of them fail on me. Laptops, bare-bones, overclocked, iMacs, macbooks, etc...

I've probably saved thousands over the years which just means I can purchase more. Woot, ebay, open-box, etc..

Computers are pretty long-lasting things. I've had one cheap PC motherboard go out on me, one SSD and several old, spinning disks. Easy fixes.

Never had a macbook die on me and I own most of the generations from Core2Duo to Apple silicon.

That said, if you don't need the power of the 16", the 14" (or 13") are much lighter and easier to carry around while still handling everything fine.
I purchased a brand new 15" Macbook Pro from Adorama back in 2017. The screen was DOA out of the box. Things happen, just because you've had good luck, doesn't mean others will.

AppleCare is based on initial purchase. If they are open box, warranty will be based on when it was purchased, regardless of return.
If you buy it from an authorized seller. Last I checked, Woot isn't one. Goodluck fighting with Apple if something goes wrong.
