Mine's a 2015, so it's "repairable." Once they started with the butterfly ones they were pretty much locked down, I think. But I couldn't handle the keyboard...so I've been using this guy for what, 7 years? Sort of cray in the computing world.
I've been using my Late 2013 Mbp 15" pro since Dec '13, will clock 10 years this December. Still working great, but battery is short, I might just get that swapped out at this point. Funny though specs are still holding up. Intel Quad Core, 16GB ram, 1 tb ssd ( which I swapped myself).

The repair cost on these are astronomical form Apple. I had a hairline crack on my OLED screen and Apple wanted almost $850 to repair it. Thankfully I had AppleCare on it, which I don't usually purchase on any of my Apple devices but this one paid off just in one repair.
People love robbery if it's from Apple.

I have this exact laptop, with the 2.6MHz CPU. I installed Ventura OS a few months ago and the thing works great. It's heavy, of course, but I use it for only one software title and use my Windows/Linux computers for everything else.

I bought it used for $300 from somebody who was selling it bc the OS support stopped.

I am as critical of Apple as anybody since they charge 2-3x as much for similar performance (though the Apple silicon computers are changing this somewhat) .. but just think .. in 2013 they had a PCI-E SDD that was 1TB (enormous at the time) and a beautiful high-pixel-density screen.

I think I was running a SATA 600 SSD that might have been 256gb at the time on a laptop with a crummy screen. I don't remember anybody having PCI storage back then.

I received the laptop today. Using the serial lookup it says the purchase date was April 1978 (yep 1978) which means this laptop was scrubbed of any remaining warranty. I think I'll keep it anyway as it looks new, but buyer beware
