Always deals are from NY to Europe and California to Hawaii/Asia. I have yet to see anything from Chicago because it's far from anywhere warm weather.... east, south, or north. Texas at least have Mexico or south America deals. Chicago is the worst.
I did 24,000 miles in two weeks and the 4.5 hours on indigo were the only non-business class lef, yet it sticks in my mind. And those flights included a business class lef on Qatar.
These are major markets with a lot of traffic & supply/demand. Therefore the chance of lower ticket prices vs a smaller airport are greater.
