The marketing is that it can be recharged from an EV charger, not that it is meant to recharge your EV.

As of 2023, standalone battery storage qualifies under the IRA. You don't need this to be part of a solar system anymore to qualify.

J1772 @3.4kwh; takes ~1.7 to fill up at an EV station.

Why? It's probably enough to run your refrigerator and Internet overnight vs having no battery backup for your solar power during an outage.
Confirmed. Runs my LG fridge for up to 18 hours at a time during an outage plus an LED lightbar, with enough power to juice up tablets and laptops. Alternative to the fridge can run a heater for up to 10 hours and heat a 10x12 room nicely.

What's the battery kwh in this? If I have a powerwall installed at my house, any way to connect this up the system to charge via solar and use it for power also?
3.6kwh. Yes they sell an adapter to connect the battery and have it act as a powerwall on their site.

Wait, what? You really did not think this through did you? This will already be charged, ready and waiting for power outage. That's like asking if you wait to get gas from a station pump for a gas generator after the electric that powers the pumps has went out. This really isn't a hard concept, but I guess for some its more than challenging, wow...
OK so obviously you haven't been through a multiple days or weeks power outage, have you? So you have this charged, then you use this generator all up and your house still doesn't have power. Then what? You go to other places in the city that does have power to charge this like at a supercharger. I have lived through more multi day power outages than I would ever want.

If you are comfortable convincing the IRS that a portable unit sitting on a shelf is permanently installed in your home, go for it. I don't think you even need solar power to claim the credit.
I see where you're coming from and checked it. Under "What expenses are included?", i clicked on Energy Storage Devices which led me to https://www.govinfo.gov/app/detai...5D/context

So section 25D allows for a tax credit for certain energy-efficient property, which includes solar-electric property, solar water heating property, fuel cell property, small wind energy property, and qualified geothermal heat pump property, among other types of energy-efficient property.

While an Ecoflow power station does not fit within any of the specific categories listed, it may still qualify for the tax credit if it meets certain criteria. For example, it may qualify if it uses solar panels to charge its batteries or if it is part of a home energy system that meets certain energy efficiency standards.

Solar for long term or a gas generator for backup.

Like any emergency plan there is redundancy.

Additionally it can more efficiently use your gas generator as charging is a constant load vs having (even an inverter) genny running is wasteful for most large appliances that cycle on and off.

The time that the fridge is off, or the FAU isn't running the inverter genny is just idling away wasting gas or powering a few lights.

already have solar (26% ITC at time); CA; other than aforementioned subjective minutiae on this page, any blatant reason we don't qualify and is there an income limit? I'm probably going to get it anyway & attempt claim so I don't know why I'm asking. I hate the IRS.

Thank you in advance to the gurus.

I have not & highly suggest relocating. That doesn't sound like a cool place.

Your priorities seem misplaced if costco instant pho bothers you but not the repeated multi-day outages. Js bro.

Yes, just like when you run out of gas you go to a station with power. Most people do not have multiple power outage days, but if they do they have to source fuel somehow. If you have multiple days without power consistently, then a gas generator would be more realistic unless you have a solar setup (They are also cheaper), but for you to think that you just keep this fully drained and then try to charge this unit only when power is lost is a bit ridiculous and not really using your brain, to say the least, lol.

What part of "assuming the charging station has power" are you having difficulty with?
What comprehension issue do you have? You really would keep this unit fully discharged and only wait for an outage to decide to go an charge it? Wouldn't it be smarter to keep this unit charged so you don't need to charge it when the power goes out? WTF is wrong with your brain lol?

That's an issue by me. Here outages are 2 types

- isolated, like a tree falls by your house or something like that. These are typically cleaned up and power restored quickly, less than a few hours. In which case there's not much incentive to go through the hassle of trying to get a generator going, or in this case hauling the battery around to plug in appliances since they'll be fine for the short amount of time the power's out.
- large-scale, as in the majority of the region. Then, power is typically out for days on a wide scale, so the very few EV chargers won't have power, and these units won't last long; if it's in a colder month, what do I do, run extension cords all over the place (refrig/freezer and boiler) just for the unit to go dead within hours? Or, just have a gas generator that can run 240v into my panel indefinitely?
