I saw this come up on Walmart yesterday when it was in stock. Decided to pass on it. It's the older model 5-series from 2020. The newer 2022 version, 65S555, is a significant improvement and goes on sale for $500 regularly. I'm going to budget more for something with HDMI 2.1.

I have had 3 TCLs 1 each of series 4, 5, and 6. 6 is by far the best of the bunch, but one common issue with all of them is the brightness. Probably fine if you just need a cheap TV for a man cave or 2nd TV for the bedroom. Most animated shows seem fine on them, but it does not handle darker scenes well at all. Recently upgraded to Sony X90J. Worth the upgrade cost!

Heads up I got this deal a few months back at Howard's and the TVs HDMI ports don't work. Been trying to get a replacement Tv or a technician to come out but TCL support has been trying to pass it off to the retailer I bought it from. Not sure if this is a widespread issue or if it's only happening to mine but just FYI. Other than that the TV is solid.

I just picked up this TV at Fred Meyer. It's a great TV and does great for FHD and better movies and gaming. But be aware that it's video upscaler isn't good and any DVD quality content will not look good. 90% of my content is gaming and UHD movies so not a big deal but I do have some legacy videos that would be good to watch but unable with this TV. Looking in outside upscaling options like handbrake to Re-encode at 1080p my older content.

My Sony X90H has been giving a lot of problems related to hdmi (picture quality is good). Replaced three sets of home theater systems and the tv still won't play nice with arc/earc setup.

Have you tried changing the picture settings? I currently only have a 6 series, but I've owned 3 TCLs and never had an issue with brightness.

Before anyone says anything negative all 3 I've owned still work, I have a 55" 6 series still, my brother has the 65" 6 series (I broke his identical TV) and my nephew has the 55" 4 series.

You're only allowed to take the bath soaps when you stay there - not the TV's! 😉

4K UHD UHR, the one on this post is 4K QLED UHR. My post is not about a better model, but a very close one being cheaper. If you need to save $30 and you are not very concerned about specs that is it. For the latest and greatest this is the post, but also check the legitimate reviews.

I have a SAMSUNG 55-inch UHD TU-8000 Series 4K HDR Smart TV (2020 Model), looking at the RTINGS review, it seems like this would be an upgrade. Any thoughts?

Still not for the best price, but a decent tv for the price, right?
