I have one of these, we got it during COVID lockdown and it's been great. Just a couple things to note before you pull the trigger.
It has to be on level ground, if it is in a slope at all, you are going to have problems. We spent a few days digging and clearing to make a level spot for it to get it right.
The included pump is under powered and does not do a good enough job. Upgrade to a sand filter system rates for the size and you will have a much better time.
The included ladder works, but it can be a bit precarious for the very young, older folks or after a bit of day drinking.
There are a bunch of "mods" you can do if you look around on youtube. For instance I replaced all the flexible tubing with pvc pipes and added a water fall feature.

This is the pump I am using: INTEX 26645EG SX2100 Krystal Clear Sand Filter Pump for Above Ground Pools, 12in https://a.co/d/gIpRlx6

not knocking your experience but, i was terrified cus all the youtubes made it seem like everything had to be just perfect. got it, set it up on pretty non level ground, one side several inches lower than the other, bumpy ground (albeit, just a heavy duty wal mart tarp thrown underneath intended to prevent grass from growing through the bottom) the bottom was kind of scrunched up in spots, etc etc etc, it worked fine the water was noticeably listing a few inches to one side, and the pool was fine.

it does not have to be as level as they claim, or even close. however i would not suggest anyone take my advice if that makes any sense lol. just in case, i am not liable.

honestly the friend i set it up for doesn't even use the pump at all. even though i advised it. during summer, they basically filled it up, used it for a couple weeks, maybe shock it to clean it once, then when the water goes bad dump it and start over. they dont necessarily use it continuously. also the one they have is a bit smaller than this (maybe 12x48? it's deep but not as wide) making the dump strat more feasible i guess.

anyways imo this type of pool is pretty great now that i've experienced one. they were closer to 600-1k at times when i bought, maybe spurred by covid shortages, maybe by the summer heat, this price is crazy good to be normal now.

oh, there is quite a learning curve initially even in these small pools though, with the chemicals and such. i feel like i've got the basics now though.

All the Intex pumps are 1.5inch inlet size. Bestway inlets are 1.25inch. How did you adapt to the smaller size?

This is not true. The intex 15ft and below also uses 1.25" inlets and outlets. Instead of using a reducing coupler, I chose to cut the holes larger to accommodate 1.5" inlets and outlets so that I could continue using 1.5" plumbing the entire way. (Several YouTube videos and forums on how to do this).

Staying at 1.25" has its limitations; especially depending on the size and output of the pump you are using.

This 16" pump is rated for 4800 to 15000 gallons. Would it be OK to use with this pool?

The pump is basically the same price as the smaller 14" version but I didn't know if there would be a drawback to getting the larger pump.
I have a 16" pump as well. A larger pump is going to push out a lot more volume of water. I would suggest considering to ensure that the outlet is 1.5" as opposed to 1.25" with an adapter.

Aside from inlet and flow restrictions, the larger size isn't going to be of any concern; it will filter the pool quicker. And may have to trial and error (lower set) the chlorinator so it's not overproducing for the smaller size pool.

Additionally, as does the intext, this pool has 2 inlets that are coupled together with a tee. I removed the tee valve that comes with it, and utilized a 1.25'/1.25"/1.5" tee so i could use the larger 1.5" hose to the pump off the tee (i did not really want to plug off 1 of the inlets). I do have an over the wall skimmer hooked up (makes a significant difference for cleaning the crap on top of the water). I pretty much have the 2nd inlet plugged and the skimmer performs all the inlet supply. The upgraded/replace tee valve is also a shutoff valve so it aides drastically in any maintenance or shutting off supply if needed.

Lots of tree stumps and stuff poking my pool. Any ideas to not have this happen? Gravel and sand are too expensive.

I bought my sand from a gravel yard and it was much cheaper than buying bags. Also I added those 4x8 sheets of white foam board over that for additional protection plus and padding

I'm getting nostalgic about lockdown and these pools were selling for like $15000 Big Grin

On a side note, if you get one, I can't recommend enough investing in a salt water filter. They're expensive, but it makes the pool maintenance free and will pay for itself in a season from savings in chemicals. We got this one and have had the pool up for two years. We haven't had to do anything to the pool water during the season (I do take the pool down in the winter). https://intexcorp.com/products/ab...flow-rate/
What do I need to buy besides this pump/sand filter?
