They have similar power output to a normal 5ah but the runtime is only 1.7ah

These are power stack batteries, they are the superior in several ways. Namely, weight/size and power.

These are perfect if you are doing lots of small tasks over and over. It's doesn't tire the arm after all day repeating there same motion.
If your getting them for someone who say installs windows, power stack is good.
The fact that these are 1.7ah makes them run down faster but you always exchange size for amp hour, at least with power stack your getting more power for size.

As for price, general consensus on slick deals is $10 an amp hour. These are power stack so I'd say $50 would be ideal pricing.

These have lower capacity than the standard 2ah batteries, but a power level on par with their 4-5ah batteries. The smaller form factor allows for work in tighter spaces.

For most applications though, the big price premium just isn't worth it over standard batteries.

There was a similar deal last year with these newer batteries. I bought these batteries and the SDS Plus drill. I like all of them. The batteries are super lightweight and last plenty long enough for my purposes (projects around the home). The SDS Plus drill is powerful and helped me easily bore dozens and dozens of holes through 12" concrete block ranging in sizes up to 1/2". I'm glad that I made the purchase.

As for price, general consensus on slick deals is $20 an amp hour. These are power stack so I'd say $80 would be ideal pricing.
Marketplace usually has around $10 per ah. $20 is a ripoff.

Firstly, understand that home Depot didn't care if you hack... They know people do it. Their checkout system allows for it purposely.
Basically, what you do is order deal. Your receipt will read as 2 line items... Batteries and tool. The checkout system splits the total price of the 2 items between the items according to a % of their value.

You can now return either items with your receipt and get that proportion of the money back.
