They have similar power output to a normal 5ah but the runtime is only 1.7ah

These are power stack batteries, they are the superior in several ways. Namely, weight/size and power.

These are perfect if you are doing lots of small tasks over and over. It's doesn't tire the arm after all day repeating there same motion.
If your getting them for someone who say installs windows, power stack is good.
The fact that these are 1.7ah makes them run down faster but you always exchange size for amp hour, at least with power stack your getting more power for size.
As for price, general consensus on slick deals is $10 an amp hour. These are power stack so I'd say $50 would be ideal pricing.
For most applications though, the big price premium just isn't worth it over standard batteries.
