As an owner of this model, I can tell you that while it was working, it was great. However, there will come a time that the lid will stop working. There is a reset that you can try but it has never worked. The first model I was able to replace through Amex's warranty service. The second one, no such luck. There won't be a third one.
I have had this for going on 5 years now. I've had to replace the filter a couple of times and I lost the black piece that holds in the bag, but it is still going strong and I have had no issues.

These cans sound great but always break. After 3 bad automatic cans from various manufacturers I went to a slow close step can, that provides a similar feel and I don't anticipate breaking.
I'll echo everyone else and say I had either this or a very similar model. Eventually the automatic lid would either partially open or stop opening altogether. The lid got thrown out and now the can makes for a decent recycling bin.
I ended up spending a little money on a nice SimplyHuman classic step trashcan that has worked flawlessly for years. It seals nicely to keep smells in the can and it's very easy to get bags in and out. They try to sell you fitted bags for a crazy price, but any trash bag will work and if you really feel like you want a fitted lining Amazon has third party ones that are the exact same thing for a fraction of the price.
Just throw all this garbage out with your garbage. Buy one with mechanical and you'll have it for years. Touch less is just hype. I have touched the touchless more time than my everyday use kitchen mechanical lid can
So I have a no-name touchless I got from Overstock via SD years ago, and I mean like 8yrs+ and it's sorta still working. I used to have to use 4x D batteries that required changing about once a year but at the new house in last 5yrs i put a power adapter on it and been working.
The lid do start to have issues, but I think it's dirt and grime in there. I did a cleaning on the metal parts between lid and trash can with Lysol wipes, then alcohol q-tip into small areas, it's disgusting but not bad. Also after cleaning spray some WD40. I need to do it again soon.
I bought my mom I think $100 or $120 SimpleHuman metal step can that was built like a tank and she broke that in 2 years
